Update 03:25 UTC: A map showing the Ridgecrest aftershocks following the mainshock rupture zone: Today's quake was located on the southern edge of this area. Although it was quite strong, one of the strongest aftershocks since last July's mainshock, late aftershocks like this are not unusual and can happen even after years.
Update 02:37 UTC: New video shows the moment of the earthquake in Ridgecrest, one of the closest cities to the epicenter.
Update 01:54 UTC: It appears this is a late aftershock of the 2019 magnitude 7.1 earthquake in Ridgecrest. A new period of aftershocks is likely.
Update 01:48 UTC: Shaking was felt all over Southern California and as far away as Las Vegas, Nevada. Los Angeles mayor, Eric Garcetti, was doing a press conference at the time of the earthquake.
Update 01:46 UTC: Based on the present earthquake parameters (Magnitude, Depth, Population, etc) and our experience with earthquake damage impact, earthquake-report.com does expect at least some slight damage like cracks in walls, fallen tiles, etc. near the epicenter area.
