Update 09:02 UTC
Geofon manually revised this quake to Magnitude 6.5. It occurred in a depth of more than 100 kilometer. That's why it was felt in a wide area including southern Mindanao (Davao) and also parts of the Minahasa peninsula on Sulawesi. Luckily due to the depth the intensity of the quake was weakened. So Earthquake-Report does not expect any significant damage. However, minor structural damage might be possible on islands near the epicenter. Note that there is no tsunami threat!
A very strong earthquake was felt in parts of Indonesia and the Philippines on Thursday, especially in southern Mindanao and on Halmahera. According to initial detections the quake reached magnitude 6.8.
