Update 09:54 UTC: Sad to report that at least 2 people have been killed in yesterday's Malart earthquake. 103 people have been injured.

Update 00:33 UTC: below the historic earthquakes in the Tehran region since 1900. Besides the M6.9, there was also a M6.3 on May 28, 2004 North of Tehran.

tehran - I was with my friend and we were talking but suddenly I noticed it. Tehran - Very weak shaking tehran - Moderate shaking Tehran - Last 2-3 sec. Tehran - 2 seconds with no damage Tehran - Very weak shaking Zarandiyeh - Strong shaking Tehran - Last about 3 - 5 secs. No damage Tehran - It took about two seconds. We felt it in Zaferaniyeh St. I can not call it a moderate shaking. No Damage to our property. Tehran - Moderate to strong shake. No objects moved but there were vibrations strong enought to shake the doors and the windows with a lot of noise. Tehran - Very weak shaking but was completely noticibale. Tehran - Very strong shaking Tehran - Moderate shaking Tehran - Light shaking Tehran - 7-10 Seconds, No damage. Tehran - I was hanging of my friend til suddenly the 4 floor buildings start to shake. we had chance to ran out from third floor. the duration was under 10 second. Tehran - It happened suddenly around 23:30 local time, we were sitting with the family, it took only 3-5 seconds, i was sitting on the couch and felt a strong vibration, the lamps were shaking and everyone started to panic and run outside. There are still a lot of people on the streets, sleeping in their car safely Andisheh New Town - I was asleep but it woke me up it was that strong. There was a loud rumbling and shaking for a few seconds, it reminded me of being in a car going over bumps and the juddering / rumbling motion accompanied by the loud noise. N.B/ Malard is right next to Andisheh New Town Karaj - The whole building was shaking and there was a loud voice because of the building shakes. It lasts for 5 to 10 seconds. Nothing was damaged. It felt moderate to strong but we're all scared of a violent earthquake. Karaj - 2-3 seconds TEHRAN - Moderate shaking Tehran - Ok this was my first time to feel something so horrible I wanted to cry but I could not i wanted to escape but i coule not just leave my family behind 7t was seriously bad :(and we are all scared atm buildings here are not evej standard not to mention quake proof luckily I was in strict 13 cuz there you felt very little shake yet still scary Af, it is 3 am in m8rning actually bit passed that 3:25 and I am scared af can not sleep cause some people say there will be another in 3:45 🙁 God help us. Tehran - Weak shaking tehran - Light shaking Tehran - time: 23h28 local time, duration: 3-5 seconds, no apparent damage in second floor appartment, first time such shaking experienced here in Tehran on my behalf since fourteen years residence! Tehran - Strong shaking Tehran - Moderate shaking Teharn - Mg first experience. 5 seconds - no damage so far Tehran - Light shaking Tehran - Strong shaking Malak - It lasted 2 seconds but it was strong enough to scare people. It had a little to no damage but people are still scared and they're in the streets.

MMI IV (Light shaking)	? People : Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building. Fittings : Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut). Structures : Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall. Environment : Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
MMI VII (Very strong shaking)	? People General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop. Fittings : Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings. Structures : Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged. Environment : Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
