  • Heritage ranch - Felt twice - each time for about 1 second
  • redwood city - From 3rd floor office, I felt moderate jolt then rolling for a couple seconds, subsided, then gentle rolling for a couple seconds.
  • Martinez - Light shaking
  • Salinas - At 12:44 p m there was a light shaking followed by a swaying, slowing down & then a slightly stronger swaying & then it stopped.
  • Dixon - I was sitting in my couch holding my little Pomeranian and I felt an earthquake, but it was weak still an earthquake, and it happened yesterday about 9 pm on 10/15/19
  • San Jose - It lasted about 5 to 7 seconds. I was on the bed and it started shaking. The frames and t.v. started shaking as well and some small objects fell off of the shelf etc. I also felt it last night as well.

  • Castro Valley - Light to medium shaking enough to shake the bed and rock my mobile home back and forth.

  • Novato - Light shaking for about 5 seconds or so. No damage.
  • Aptos, California - Guessing at 4+, for 3 seconds, haven’t inspected for damage yet
  • Napa - A moderate but brief shaking of my two-story Victorian home at 10:33 pm October 14, 2019 knocked a small figurine off a shelf.
  • PITTSBURG - like swaying lightly but long period.
  • Salinas - 1 strong shock followed 6 seconds of light tremble and sound
  • Monterey - NPS felt the rumbles in two almost simultaneous waves, lasted for about 5 seconds

  • Fairfield - It was like one giant kick... very sharp but very short

  • San francisco - Everything rattled
  • San Anselmo - It was a medium length shaking. No damage
  • San Rafael - Less than 10 seconds. Very pronounced. No damage but the whole building - 3 story apartments - shook distinctly. Based on previous experiences, it was at least 4-5 magnitude if the epicenter was relatively nearby.
  • Danville - For maybe 8 seconds or so
  • Hercules - Loud noice and whole house shake
  • Santa Cruz - A few seconds, 6th floor building creaking
  • Danville - Light shaking
  • Martinez, CA - 5 seconds - violent shake, pause, then very violent shaking. A few things fell.
  • Pleasant hill - No damage, lasted 5-10 seconds shook the house alittle
  • Walnut Creek - jolt followed by few seconds of strong shaking - very noisy. No known damage (large windows intact)
  • Fairfield - 5 seconds around 1030pm
  • sebastopol - no damage that I know of. shaking lasted only a few seconds but very definite.
  • San pablo - Spooked me out! 4.7 earthquake in the bay area.
  • VALLEJO - Strong shaking
  • Concord - No Damage, entire house shook or bumped to the west. 3 seconds.
  • Walnut Creek - Moderate shaking
  • Concord, CA - 2 sets of short moderate shaking a few seconds apart. First set was lighter, about 4 or 5 secs. Second set was only 2 or 3 seconds long but stronger.
  • Novato, CA - Shaking for 5 seconds or so. No damage to property.
  • LaFayette CA - It was strong, but only a couple seconds at most. Over very fast.
  • Dixon - Shaking was a back and forth motion and lasted about 12-15 seconds
  • Pinole - 2nd story of building heavy rocking and creaking. I dont know how long it lasted I was definitely scared.
  • Pittsburg - Light shaking
  • Pleasanton - 3-4 seconds
  • Moraga - Sharp jolt Followed by five second moderate shake
  • Piedmont - Lasted about 2 seconds. House underwent a gentle shake.
  • Vacaville - 5 to 7 seconds. Nothing fell inside the house. Dark out so don't know about the outside. Was sitting at my computer. Felt like a shape jolt and then shaking.
  • Concord - At least 20 seconds, everything shook above and below and to the sides, very scary
  • Pleasant Hill ca - Very strong shaking. Loud too. 8-10 seconds.
  • El Verano - Light shaking
  • Concord Caif - There was a boom and the house shook like it had been hit by a truck. Then a few seconds light shaking.(3 - 4 seconds).
  • Antioch - Light shaking about 3 seconds. Rattled windows. Woke me up
  • Concord - Moderate shaking
  • CROCKETT - Moderate shaking
  • OAKLAND - Seemed like 10 seconds or so. Started, abated, started again, with more force. No damage.
  • Aptos, Ca. - No damage. east-west movement. 3-5 seconds. Scary because was worried it was a precursor. Woke me up.
  • Fremont - Cats freaked out. Bed shaking and perfume bottles rattling on the dresser oh boy!
  • Oakland, CA - Felt like a bomb Was detonated a few miles away and then it shaking as if the shockwave
  • Los gatos - Light shaking
  • Martinez - Cracks are bigger now
  • Novato - Light shaking
  • Pleasant Hill - I heard noise and the house shake for a few second.
  • Carmichael - Small jolt throughout the house. 1 second. No damage.
  • Livermore, CA - 4-5 seconds; shook strong enough to wake me up.
  • Petaluma - Steady rumble. My bearded dragon's glass door cage always alerts me. Hanging light over kitchen table swung. Maybe 5 seconds
  • Concord - woke up by initial jolt at 10:33pm followed by approx. 5-6 seconds strong shaking...quick walk around with flashlight could not seen any visible damage.
  • Cupertino - Weak shaking
  • Antioch Ca - Shaking was very quick. It felt like something just bumped into you and then it was over! 5 seconds at most
  • Concord, Ca - About 5 seconds moderate to strong. Nothing fell but had loud rumble and the seams in some of the drywall tape cracked through the paint in our house.
  • Walnut Creek - 4th floor. Windows rattled. 5 seconds.
  • Santa Rosa - 5 sec, no damage
  • El Granada - A jolt and bottles on a shelf started shaking which lasted for about 6 seconds
  • Dublin - Moderate shaking
  • Benicia - Few things fell off the bookshelf, strongest felt in a decade
  • Pinole - Hear a loud boom. And the house rattled a bit.
  • Pleasant Hill, CA - Moderate shaking
  • Novato - First there were a couple of light shakes, alarming me that an earthquake was coming. Then a pretty heavy shake lasting a fraction of a second. I could feel the building move.
  • SAN JOSE - 1 to 2 seconds, shake and slight roll. no damage.
  • Fremont - It took 5 seconds. Windows were shaking and I felt the couch moving.

  • Half Moon Bay - Weak shaking/rattled windows for 3-4 seconds.
  • Redwood city - In my room, second floor, quick shake, side to side for about 3 seconds. Nothing else.
  • Vacaville - Maybe 4 seconds
  • South San Francisco - A larg jolt followed by another about 2 seconds later
  • Napa - Wasn’t a strong shaking but lasted for about 8 seconds
  • San Jose - 3rd floor apt. Shaking was weak, but the blinds rattled out of nowhere.
  • Crockett, CA - Very sharp twisting jolt, followed by continued shaking for 5 seconds or so, knocking books out of bookcases, banging glassware in china cabinets and kitchen cupboards, knocked lamps down stored in garage, and folding chairs down from storage area...I thought it was the beginning of the BIG ONE!
  • Emeryville - Light shaking
  • Santa Rosa - Lasted 5 seconds, shook my bed and walls. The shaking woke my cat, but settled down before he could run for cover.
  • San Jose - 4 seconds, creaking sound in attic apartment
  • El Cerrito, Ca - Shook 10-15 seconds, loud "BOOM" Got me up.
  • Mountain House, CA - It felt like the whole house was swaying.
  • Vacaville - Was sitting in quiet garage and thought I heard perhaps a cat moving around in the big shelves, few seconds later heard similar noise in shelves on other side. Happened a few more times I really thought it was a cat or other animal in the garage making noise, then the strong jolt while I was standing. Felt similar to 14 Napa but less and over in idk 4-5 seconds
  • Santa Rosa - Weak shaking
  • Vacaville - I live in a modular home. Was sitting in a recliner in the dark, watching TV with my dogs. Felt the trailer start to sway slightly, then a light jolt, more swaying, then a second, but harder jolt, then a sound like the structure creaked & popped. All this only lasted a few seconds, but long enough for me to get up and move away from the window in case of a stronger aftershock. At the time didn't know where the quake originated.
  • Clayton - 5-6 seconds of loud, “up and down bumping”.
  • Walnut Grove - Lasted about a minute. Not very hard shaking. No property damage.
  • Martinez - shook at least 8-10 seconds. very loud, heavy ground rolling/shaking
  • Danvile - Felt more like an explosion
  • Oakley - Shaking lasted 3-5 seconds. Bed jolted at first, then again. Noticed clothes in the closet swaying back and forth!
  • Sebastopol - Qw seconds shaking. No damage.
  • Stockton - Few seconds
  • Concord - Everything was shaking and I thought it wasn’t going to end.

  • San Mateo - The light but persistent shaking occurred for 10-15 seconds. No property was damaged but it was unexpected and disconcerting.
  • Benecia - Woke my roommates out of a sound sleep, pretty strong shaking & loud rattling for about 4 seconds, then slowed and then strong shaking again and slowed. Lasted about 10-12 seconds.
  • Napa - It felt like a small quake that rolled for a few seconds and then it felt like a stronger quake that lasted a bit longer. My building was slightly rocking.
  • Napa, CA - I felt the shaking tonight at 10:34 pm while sitting downstairs. It rattled the windows but nothing broke. The two dogs upstairs felt it and ran downstairs but my daughter who was also upstairs did not feel it. It seemed to last about 10 seconds.
  • San Ramon - I felt it in San Ramon, ceiling nd walls were making slight noise nd it felt like cieling will fall
  • Union City - Sitting still in My Dodge Truck's driver's seat ,Felt like somebody was having sex in the back....
  • Daly city, ca - No damage. Rattled the house.
  • Pleasanton - Was sitting in my family room and felt the room/TV swaying. Initially thought it may be due to my flu symptoms that am feeling dizzy.
  • Petaluma - About 5 seconds of rattling. More noise than feeling.
  • GUADALAJARA - Just shaking bed with 5 seconds of time
  • Hayward - I felt the bed start to shake. Net on ceiling around bed was swaying. Daughter says she was photographing a dress hanging on cupboard knob and dress was swaying, which she found confusing. I yelled earthquake. I stood up prepared to run outside but then it stopped. Nothing fell.
  • Vacaville - First felt a very slight movement that lasted a couple of seconds but was recognizable as a quake then a sudden jolt that lasted a second or so.
  • Clayton, Ca - rolling wave action, lasted 4-5 sec. No damage.
  • Hayward, CA - Hayward- strong, sudden East-to-west jolt, then nothing. Lasted 1 sec. not aware of any shaking or movement before the jolt. No damage or injuries.

    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
