Update 07:35 UTC: Â According to the China Seismological Network, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake occurred at 4:15 on April 24, 2019 in Medog County, Linzhi City, Tibet (28.40 degrees north latitude, 94.61 degrees east longitude) with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
After the earthquake, Huang Ming, the party secretary of the Emergency Management Department, rushed to the headquarters command center to deploy emergency response work. It was requested to collect and grasp the disaster situation as soon as possible, and strengthen the analysis of the earthquake situation. Zheng Guoguang, director of the China Earthquake Administration, quickly rushed to the China Seismological Network Center to organize the network center and the Tibet Earthquake Administration to jointly conduct a survey on the situation of the earthquake situation.
It is understood that Medog County, Back Biao Township, Milin Town, and South Iloba Nationality Township have a strong sense of shock, and there are no reports of casualties and property losses. The water and electricity communication in Medog County is normal. The Tibet Earthquake Administration has dispatched a working group led by the deputy director to rush to the disaster area to carry out on-site work.
Professor Max Wyss, who specialises in theoretical prognoses of injuries and fatalities expects : 50 to 500 fatalities and 100 to 1000 injured.
