Update : While writing this update we have no knowledge of any damage. If we would find any signs of damage or injuries, we will asap share it with our readers.

Update : The area got a huge number of aftershocks!, which is normal but at the same time very sleep disturbing

Update :  Focal mechanism of the earthquake shows a merely extensional movement - 2 parts of the fault pulling out of each other

  • Pocatello - Very weak shaking
  • Pocatello - It lasted about 5 to 8 seconds. No damages.
  • Logan UT - 3rd floor 4 story modern university building. Shaking was low frequency, lasting about 15 seconds.
  • POCATELLO - 10-15
  • Bennington - No damage. Scared the kids.
  • Pocatello - Thought someone was stomping around upstairs when the first tremor hit, but then items atop a cabinet began shaking. I heard rumbling. The first tremor didn't last too long, possibly five seconds. The second tremor shook objects on the cabinet again and the ground, only for a few seconds. Half a minute later there was a strong one that shook the ground and rattled objects. It lasted about ten seconds. No damage to speak of.
  • Pocatello - It lasted about 5 seconds and it felt like my washer shaking, I have no property damage that I can see so far

  • Idaho - Having moved from California and living through many many earthquakes today's quake in Idaho wasn't that bad

  • Pocatello - I was sitting at the computer in a swivel chair and I felt it shake for a brief moment...maybe 1-2 seconds of shaking. My husband and kids in the backyard playing did not feel anything.
  • North Logan, UT - Third floor of apartment building (4 yrs old), sofa tilted slightly about 3-4 times, other occupants didn't notice it. 5-7 seconds.
  • pocatello - 5-10 seconds, enough to vibrate walls, make things rattle, feel like just a little stronger might knock objects over so it gets your attention. didn't notice the exact time but this is the third I'd felt today, though the first two were soon after each other earlier today. This last one was not the strongest today. Happened roughly 8:30pm-ish although I'm sure more exact records were taken of the exact time.
  • pocatello - just had two new rounds of shaking back to back, about a minute apart. At roughly 12:05-12:07 am mountain time. First went for about 20 seconds. Then it seemed to be over, then felt it again for about 10 seconds. So it either ebbed and then got noticeable again, or it was two back to back. Guessing they're more from the soda springs area bunch that's been happening at intervals today.
  • Moreland ID - 5:57 pm I was sitting on the porcelain throne when I felt an off balance sensation. I looked forward and watched the plants in the bathroom sway slightly north and south for 3 to 4 seconds. There was a low frequency rumble at the same time.
  • Bancroft - 12:45am 9/3. Light shaking of house. Lasted about 8 seconds.
  • pocatello - Latest one felt around 5:25am mountain time. Lasting about 20 seconds. Really surprised how many rumblings we've had in the last twelve hours. We don't usually get any.
  • Pocatello Idaho - At about 6:03 PM Saturday (9/2/17), I was sitting in my heavy easy chair and felt it shake for about 2 seconds. It was sitting on a concrete floor in the basement. I didn't feel any after that. I went to bed at 7:00 PM and felt none in bed.
  • Cub River/Preston - It shook the entire house for around 5-10 Seconds. We have found no Damage to houme or surrounding area. Our Home is a Slab on Grade Ranch Home. The Walls and Floors shook for the full 5-10 seconds. I could see the Trees shaking as the Birds all flew out of them outside. I was sitting at my desk in the study and my Desk & Monitors shook back and forth.
  • Ogden, UT - Siting 5:56pm felt the house shake and light rolling.
  • Pocatello - I was dusting when one of the decorations fell off of the table. A while later thought I better go check outside and found two of my driveway pads cracked through completely!
  • Clearfield - I was sitting at my kitchen table and it shook back and forth 1 time. My sister was sitting on her bed and it shook and her dog jumped up and barked and ran into my room
  • Lava Hotsprings - Light shaking
  • Lava hot springs - Felt it it shake the entice Rv thought daughter was jumping around...
  • Lava Hot Springs - Outside at the time in a chair. Felt shaking for about 6-8 seconds. Kind of like a wiggling. Saw things around me moving. No damage.
  • McCammon - I was sitting on the couch and felt it start to shake. It lasts a few seconds. No damage.
  • Chubbuck idaho - I could feel my floor shake, like when the washer is on the spin cycle.

  • Soda Springs - No damage but some pictures tipped over and a couple of glass bottles fell off the shelf.
  • Pocatello - I was sitting on one of our couches and I heard a pretty loud noise, the plants were shaking and the couch I was sitting on was shaking. My mom was basically in the same room as me and didn't see or feel it.
  • Moreland ID - 12:17am laying in bed felt another quake. Came from the south like a wave, also rattled the snow globe cabinet.
  • Orem, UT - Felt a rolling and thought it may have been vertigo or imagined until I saw the overhead hanging lamp swaying slightly.
  • Pocatello - it was not shaking, it was more like rocking and it lasted 10 seconds then another one lasted the same time.
  • Pocatello - Around 3:50am, my significant other and I both felt the bed shaking. It only lasted a couple seconds, but it was strange. We wondered if it was a quake, but I had never felt one before and nothing outside seemed disturbed. That led me to look it up today.
  • Blackfoot reservoir - Sept 10 woke us up... bed was shaking and blinds
  • Montpelier, ID - Were camping, and thought my wife was bouncing her foot. A few minutes later, I felt it again, but knew she was not bouncing her foot that time. We discussed, and noted there was no traffic on nearby road. Felt shaking 3 times, about 7 p.m., generally, Sept 2.

  • Pocatello, Idaho - No property damage, less than 5 seconds. I thought I was crazy until my dad texted me and asked if I felt it. He lives a few miles to the north.
  • SE Idaho - Light shaking
  • pocatello - at about 12:45am mountain time, had another brief shake over here. Didn't last more than a few seconds. Enough to lightly make things shake and creak a bit but only if you were paying attention. A little concerning considering the last one was felt around 12:05am and I would have expected them to be less often, not more (by now since the first one was hours ago).
  • Bancroft - Light shaking of house. Lasted about 8 seconds.

    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).

    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.

    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings.     Environment :
