Update : Downtown shops at Church Avenue and Main Street have broken plate-glass windows, Burson said. A store-front window is broken at a fitness center and other minor damage is at several other businesses. The city police station had cabinets overturned and an air-duct fell out of the ceiling, he said. Pictures on the walls at city hall also fell off

  • Tulsa Oklahoma - At 4:09 am on July 15, 2014 I was on the second story of my home watching the news when I felt my bed shake for at least 5-7 seconds

  • Harrah - The first quake hit around 2:16 fairly strong but didn't last long, things shook and it sounded like an explosion. The second quake hit at around 4:10 it was stronger and lasted longer and lots of stuff moved and fell over, I don't know about damage as of yet but will inspect after work.

  • Fayetteville - I have an antique secretary that has items that jingle whenever we have experienced trimmers. Felt slight trimmer for a second or two, but the items in the secretary could be heard moving for about 20 or so seconds.
  • Norman - I was woken up shortly after 4am with my bed shaking and could hear my house shaking. The ceramic tile floor was moving as well. Was quite disturbing to wake up to. Seemed like it was just a few seconds. Do not know if property is damaged yet or not....
  • Pink, OK - Just felt the bed moving - vibrating for about 3 to 5 seconds. It was strong enough to waken me, but nothing was rattling or falling.
  • Newalla,OK - The ACE hardware in Harrah OK is closed today because of damage (ceiling fell in). The plate glass windows on the Harrah Fitness Center were shattered.The McDonald's drivethru driveway now has a 1/2" wide crack running approx 50-60 feet from the building into the lot that was NOT present before the quake.
  • Bixby - Approximately 4:09 am, I was awakened by sounds of rattling glass and the sensation that my bed was shaking.The shaking lasted several seconds.
  • Harrah - Found a few trees that limbs had fallen off. Large limbs. Woke us up from sound sleep, rocked house a good few minutes. Everything in house seems okay, just down trees
  • Harrah, OK - Woke suddenly at approx. 2:16 AM strong earthquake took place a few minutes later. Woke again around 4 AM and a stronger earthquake minutes later. Both quakes caused the bed to shift, doors to sway and dishes and pictures to rattle. Upon waking for the day I discovered several books had fallen off their shelf and a crack in one of our windows.
  • Oklahoma City - at 0409 i felt moderate shaking, no damage to anything in the house but it lasted for about 30 to 45 seconds.
  • Norman - House creaking,lamp rattling, bed shaking woke me at 4:08am
  • Harrah - First one at 2:16am shook us good I had woke up at 2:15 am and was in my dinning room it shook everything did no damage. The second one hit a little after 4am I was on the couch it was very loud it shook hard enough to knock pics. Off my wall it lasted a lot longer then the first and my house was popping and cracking.
  • McLoud Ok - No damage, just a lot of shaking.
  • McLoud - No Damage. Sounded like something heavy and large was thrown down my stairs. The glass of my oil lamps were visibly shaking. I could hear the dishes in the cabinets rattling. It shook my whole house! This is the first time that I've been awake and alert for an earthquake in Oklahoma and knew it for what it was. I've never felt the ones before. I grew up in a town that detonates excess Army ammunition bombs, I am used to windows rattling for a second. But this lasted about two minutes.
  • Harrah, Oklahoma - Was asleep and the first was around 0215 which was like all the others we have been having in the past few year or so. The second was around 0410 and was not like the others. It was strong enough to shake pictures off the walls and stuff off shelves. Woke all the kids and wife up and had them scared to the point they did not want to go back to sleep.   • Tulsa, Oklahoma - On July 15, 2014 at 4:09 am I awoke to my upstairs bedroom shaking, and the sound of email items in my house vibrating. It seemed to last about 12 or so seconds.
  • Harrah - Felt both quakes, first around 2:15 which shook the bed and woke up everyone, the whole house was rattling hard. The second one was felt around 4:08 and seemed more violent than the first. Shook the house really hard, woke everyone up again and had a hard time going back to sleep! Some rocks in our aquarium fell over but luckily didn't crack the glass or smash any fish! Had things on the mantle that were hanging slightly off ready to fall off the shelf.
  • Edmond - I was surprised that while the shaking was mild to moderate, it seemed to last much longer than usual.
  • Harrah - Woke both times, and second time for sure, no visible damage.
  • Choctaw - Choctaw : woke me up at 4:00a.m. no damage that I know of.Hard to wake me at 4:00 a.m.
  • Tecumseh OK - Lived in So Cal 40 years, this is one of the strongest quakes I've felt.
  • Gilroy - Strong jolt that sounded as if someone hit the house.

    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
