  • Canefield - long wobble most co workers did not feel it!
  • Kingstown - Just felt the chair and table shaking
  • Le Lamentin - tremblement intense, deux secousses successives pas de dommages
  • Saint Lucia - Supermarket items falling off shelves.
  • Ducos - Il a du duré environ 15 seconde j'etais dans mon bureau, les 5 premieres secondes j'ai patienté et vu que cela dure avec une intensité variante je suis sorti en courant sur le parking
  • Grand Bourg - quelques secondes des secousses faible
  • Gross Islet - At home in the kitchen. Started at 3.55pm. Building started to shake and rumble. Lasted 1 minute. Checking for damages.
  • Robert - Scary, things in the house were shaking and we made our way outside
  • Ducos - Ca a tremblé.
  • Deshaies - Just small shaking in the hotel room.
  • La Trinite - Les bouteilles posées au sol on tremblé si fort quelles se sont couchées au sol
  • Le Carbet - deux secousses fortes mon fauteuil roulant s'est déplacé tout seul
  • Gros Islet - Heard a boom, thought it was sonic boom, but dishes rattling , house shaking. Lasted a few seconds. Clearly an earthquake. Cap Estate, St. Lucia No discernible property damage. Still checking.
  • Le Diamant - Felt like a heavy truck going past. Everything shook but nothing fell over. Local people said it felt like a strong earthquake.
  • Baie-Mahault - moderée a forte accompagnée d'un grondement sourd
  • Baie-Mahault - J'étais assis et mon impression sur de jelly anglais. Durer tres courte 1sec+-
  • Cacao - Third floor rocked and shook for maybe 5 seconds. Debated getting out but shaking stopped almost as soon as it started
  • Le Vauclin - There was strong shaking objects falling and we had to walk outside
  • Gros Islet - Sitting on a sun lounger at the beach. Suddenly, It started rocking for around 15 seconds. At least 6 others nearby felt it as we all commented on it.
  • Le Robert - It was my first day visiting Martinique from the US. The quake was strong enough to wake me from a nap and continued for a few more seconds after I awoke.
  • Les Anses d'Arlet - We were in the pavilion at the entrance to the long dock, and we thought that the wind was buffeting the pavilion.
  • Roseau - Trillen gehele kamer alsof zware vrachtwagen vlakbij reed, met bijhorend geluid ( maar dat is ws een false memory). beker met water bewoog. Dit duurde ong 5 seconden. Daarna leek hele hotel heen en weer te bewegen. Even dacht ik dat gebouw zou instorten en ik overwoog kamer uit te gaan voor zekerheid. Stomme is dat ik zelfs toen niet dacht aan aardbeving ( hoorde het later en wist het toen wel gelijk- eerder meegemaakt) maar dus aan een vrachtwagen. Wel een onbestemd onveilvreemd gevoel! Igor D

  • Fort-de-France - Les meubles tremblaient et ça a duré quelques secondes.

  • Saint joseph - I was sleeping.
  • Le Lamentin - Secousse forte ressenti. Pas de dégât.
  • Le Robert - Je l'ai ressenti très fort ,sa ma réveiller
  • Gros Islet - It was long but the strongest one I've felt so far. Glasses were shaking in the cupboards long after and the dogs are still barking.
  • port of spain - felt the movement all the way to trinidad
  • Ducos - J ai été réveillée dans mon sommeil par le craquement de mon lit en bois, à l étage, et ressenti les secousses. 15 sec environ. Puis ai vu une seconde onde, sur surface d eau de ma piscine, non ressentie celle là. Vers 3h du matin , hre locale.j attends des répliques. Suis inquiète.

  • Le François - Heard mire or les 20 seconds be fore shaking
  • Ducos - Réveille dans mon sommeil, lit craque,3h matin hre locale. Lit craque puis mouvements ressentis. Seconde secousse vue en surface d eau piscine non ressentie. Inquiète. En attente d autres secousses.

  • St-Esprit - Bonjour, Il était environ 2h50 quand la terre à tremblée, j'ai été réveillé par les secousses.
  • Ducos - CraquementS de lit me reveillent. 3hre matin hre locale. 1er étage maison. 2eme secousse vue en surface piscine,non ressentie. Animaux aboient. Inquiète.
  • Bense Village, Parish of St. Andrew NE c - Very short but quite strong. Definitely felt like the plates slipping/shifting.
  • Le vauclin - Ressenti 2 secousses a env. 3h00 ce matin. 2nde secousse forte
  • Schoelcher - Fortement ressenti et long
  • 97212 Saint Joseph - Tout bougeait dans la maison nos voisins et nous sommes sortie à l extérieur
  • Gros islet - Woke me up and shook the bed
  • Gros Islet - Awoken out of sleep about 1-2 minutes before the bed started to shake. It shook for a good period of time, with still moments in between.

  • Le Marin - Toute la famille a été reveillée mais à la fin de la secousse, difficile d'estimer la durée (une dizaine de secondes ?) . Pas de bruits perçus autres que la vibration des murs.

  • Fort de France - Une petite secousse suivie d'un gros coup puis a continué à trembler plus légèrement, les portes de placard se sont entrechoquées pas de dégats apparents.

    People :
    Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
