The time was about 2:35 p.m. today March 29, 2014. It shook my chair, computer, and rest of the building for no more than 15 seconds. There was a rumbling sound.

  • Los Angeles - It was a long earthquake. Took a while for it to calm down.
  • Anaheim/ Disneyland - A rolling sensation .... bed rocked back and forth.

  • fullerton - It was very scary, because i was just getting ready to eat dinner, my father told me to hand him a plate. So, i went to grab the plate as soon i was getting it all hellbroke down, i didnt't know what was happening, i ran, my dad said no dont run and everything from the living room fell picture frames trophes, i got scared and i did cry from a azma attack very scary. Thank god nothing bad happened.

  • Pomona - We felt this earthquake for a long time. It was a slow, light shaking at first, then progressed into a longer, stronger, sustained shake that lasted several seconds before slowly fading out. I would say we felt shaking for at least 15-20 seconds from start to finish.
  • Whittier - Live in East Whittier close to La habra Orange county line down whittier blvd. Felt the 5.1 a very strong jolt. Strongest one I ever felt .

  • Roland Heights - Last night Ifelt the pre shock and then the 5.1 really shook our place. Broken glass and cans fell out of cabinets. Also felt many of the aftershocks, even the one this afternoon.

  • Studio City - No damage, but a moderately strong shaking but it lasted quite a long time. It lasted much longer than the one from 10 days or so ago that was 4.3 and in Encino. Longest one I've ever felt.

  • wasilla - I am usually within .5 and my guess is just above a 4.o quake. rattled dishes and shook the bed for 10-20 seconds. no big deal.
  • Diamond Bar - it caught me by surprise and some vases got destroyed
  • West Covina California - Not to damaged but a few things fell of my pantry and stuff. I was watching tv and I suddenly fell shaking and got up and ran outside and saw that it was an earthquake. I got really scared though cause I knew about the San Andreas fault line.
  • La Mirada - Was sitting on couch when large jolt hit. Very sharp, not the usual rolling type. Took me by surprise since we didn't feel the foreshocks. Many items fell off of shelves/tables. We live at top of a hill, so it might have felt a bitter stronger.
  • Brea, CA - Everything shook so hard, it was terrifying!
  • La habra - Tv and shelves rattled smaller shelves fell over, things fell off of shelves, had to hold up tv lasted about 15 seconds or so house jolted
  • California - I was standing in line waiting to get on a ride and the fireworks started and the fake ship pulled up and the ground started shaking and it felt like the ground was rolling and then when it stopped the park closed early and shut down the rides.

  • Long Beach - Felt momentary trembling (less than 5 seconds)which my husband and I both felt on the second story of our house at 8:03PM, March 28, 2014.
  • Fullerton - I believe we had at least a 4.5. It was a jerky quake. It moved my couch. I was sitting o it. Kind of scared me because we live in an old home, raised, it moved with 3good jerks. About 7 to 10 seconds. Long time to me. Lived here my b whole life, 53 years.
  • Pasadena - Very moderate shaking - very short.
  • Victorville - The ground shook hard at first, felt Like it rolled under our feet. We're on the second floor in a hospital. Then it lightly shook for another 5-10 seconds.
  • Anaheim, CA - Noisy ratle of windows and mild movement of ground. Side to side movement
  • Victorville,CA - Our cat wanted outside and stood meowing at us. Then a strong jerking began. We went outside. Our dog has just sat down at 9:42. She was walking in circles. No damage to our home.

  • Rowland Heights - One of the strongest quakes I have felt, a few bottles in the kitchen and bathroom fell, half of the neighbors were alarmed and half didn't even come out of their houses. Missed a minute of Monk because we rushed outside, went back for cell phone and tablet.

  • Anaheim - Well I was at disneyland and we were about to get on luigis flying tires in cars land and all of a sudden once the ride started the ground was shaking. I thought it was part of the ride but it wasnt until I saw the lights move and the posts. Thats when people started texting me and calling telling me if im ok and thats when I noticed that there was an earthquake
  • Huntington Beach - No damage but much longer than 10 seconds, at least twice that. Some initial jolt movements and then rolling movement for some time. Was pretty dizzy for 1 minute or two after this quake.
  • Rancho Palos Verdes, CA - I was saying goodnight to my kids around 9pm in our 2nd story apartment, when we heard the windows rattle. We thought it might be the wind, but then 2 of us felt some slight swaying. I couldn't tell if I was not feeling well or if it was a quake. Looked it up online and sure enough.
  • Fullerton - it was only measured at a 5.1 magnitude, but since the quake originated right where i live.... it was extremely scary. My first thought was to go under a table, but it was quickly replaced with, "i have to get my mom and my dogs". It's been about 3 hours since the quake and i am still so paranoid and shaky. every little aftershock that's been coming has me going crazy like i have PTSD or something..
  • Hollywood/Los Angeles - We were at The Pantages Theatre, during intermission of The Book of Mormon. We felt our seats shaking. Looked up at the high ceilings and all the disco balls were swaying.

  • Buena Park - I was at Medieval Times in Buena park when the earthquake struck us. It was so crazy to see that whole castle shake. I thought the roof was going to crumble down. Something actually did fall on someone but I think they were ok. I thought the show was going to stop and we were going to all leave, but the show kept going.
  • Fullerton - We were on the third story of my aunt's apartment complex when we felt everything start to shake. My little sister and my 5 younger cousins starting screaming and everything started to fall. Even my cousin's brand new TV shattered on the floor. We cuddled up underneath doorways and tables until it stopped shaking (about 15 seconds) And then evacuated the apartment.
  • anaheim - Started shaking my fishing rods, then stronger. I goaded it on because it just kept rolling. Them three hard jolts sent my TV "walking" down the credenza. I got up and held on to my TV until the rolling quit. Felt at least five aftershocks.One big crack in kitchen wall and big toolbox fell and dented side of car in garage.
  • irvine, ca - Watching TV when the the whole room started to rock back and forth for about 15 sec then slowly came to a stop. Made me feel a little dizzy after. Nothing fell in the house but very scary.
  • Palm Desert - I was in bed for the night, but not asleep yet. Bed rolled gently

  • Beach Blvd - very moderate shaking, nothing damaged
  • Placentia - Was in bed when felt mild shaking
  • Long Beach - Was on a walk in the neighborhood and the house I was standing next to started rattling. I thought that maybe there was a breeze up above that I wasn't feeling, it looked like an old house that could be rattled by a breeze. Stopped to see if the ground was shaking, but didn't feel anything. Didn't know there was an earthquake until one of the residents came out and asked me about it.
  • Long Beach - Lasted about 4 seconds with an aftershock of about 2 seconds.
  • California City, California - Was at 9:11 pm appx. Was sitting on couch saw a chandelier start to move then I felt a "roll" which made things move faster and even felt my legs giveway on the floor.
  • Huntington Beach - Items fell of shelves at work. I was home. Some separation of sidewalk on South side of our home with a little lifting.
  • placentia, ca - Various items in the house and garage fell.

    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
