  • Fukuoka - I was sleeping at the time and woke up because of the shaking I felt. I am a very sound sleeper, so I was so surprised. Nothing seems to be broken, no books have fallen off the shelves, etc. Thank God it was nothing more than a scary experience.
  • Kobe - woke up to light lateral shaking which got stronger. It seemed to last quite a long time. The house (wooden frame) made loud rattling noises. Movements were lateral only through the entire earthquake.
  • Matsuyama - No damage I am aware of. My building was swaying however.
  • hiroshima - no damage, strong shaking - JMA 4+ in kabe, asakita-ku, hiroshima
  • Fukuoka - I was asleep at 2:06 am and felt the earth shaking in my dream. Sensing something was odd I wakened and felt my bed being shook in a WNW-ESE direction. Back and forth.. about 8 or 9 times back and forth. Complete silence and I wondered if it was just me or everyone going thru this. I listened for sounds of anything falling, but nothing. This morning when I checked my crockery and glass cabinets nothing amiss. Relieved and thankful to have been spared.
  • Shinshaibashi - first time in life and horrible.. cant imagine being strong like the japanese are..
  • Osaka Namba - Can feel the shake at 28th storey
  • Hiroshima - I woke up right before the quake and felt it from start to finish. This was my first earthquake. So I was very frightened and thought the building was going to go down. I couldn't go back to sleep for a few hours since I was unaware if it would start trembling again. Although I was glad that it did not start up again.

  • Hiroshima city - Moderate swaying on shaking in my 7th floor apartment. It caused a very expensive bottle of Italian Olive Oil in my kitchen to take a tumble into the sink. Fortunately I hadn't done the washing up so it's fall was broken by some plates and a cup. The tasty condiment was lucky to escape a slippy end this time and will be pressed into breakfast duty forthwith.
