  • Fallbrook - It sounded like a large blast from Camp Pendleton but then the house started shaking for a few seconds.

  • Temecula, CA - It felt like one strong jolt.
  • Temecula - My children did not awaken but did stir. The windows rattled loudly, but nothing was displaced
  • Temecula, CA - Woke t moderate shaking that seemed to last about 5 seconds
  • Temecula - Awoke from second floor bedroom. Strong shaking lasting about 10 seconds. No damage.

  • Temecula - Felt a good shake/ the left side of the house was 16432638 like crazy. I started looking around seeing if things would come off the wall, etc. No rolling. Just the shake.

  • Fallbrook - We Thought it was Camp Pendleton since it sounded like a double explosion.
  • Northeast side of Fallbrook - I was sitting at my desk at home working, and I felt a strong initial jolt followed by shaking for maybe 10 seconds. My house is 7 miles ENE of the epicenter.
  • South Temecula - I was awake, when felt strong shaking. I jumped up during quake to check on my child. Quake woke him up from sleep.
  • West Temecula - Heard a roar like a wave. Then boom the house shook.
  • Murrieta - I awoke & heard a rumbling sound, then our home started shaking. It lasted maybe 10 seconds. I timed it at exactly 6:30 a.m.
  • Escondido - Slight jolt
  • North of Fallbrook (Rock Mt.) - Sounded like a car bomb that went off to the East followed by momentary shaking consistent with an explosion. Sounded like a Camp Pendleton detonation except from the wrong direction.
  • Vista - It felt like the shaking caused by a truck.
  • Temecula - One big Jolt that swayed the house (I was outside). Not so much of a shaker.
  • Temecula - Very loud & bounced me out of puppy just had her first earthquake & thought someone was pounding on the front door...very loud boom and several rolling shakes!

  • Scripps Ranch - San Diego - 2-3 seconds of a little shaking. Nothing exciting but was enough to make it obvious it was an earthquake
  • Rainbow - It felt like one quick strong jolt.
  • Temecula - It was strong enough to wake me up at 6:30 in the morning when I normally don't get up until eight for class. It was also strong enough to open a door on my family's curio cabinet. Definitely not what you want to wake up to.
  • Temecula - Woke me up but my son slept through it. Didn't even realize it was an earthquake until I saw it on the news.
  • Temecula - Good jolt for about 5-10 seconds that woke me up out of a deep sleep at 6:30 in the morning in my second floor bedroom. Overall nothing damaged, but it did knock open the door to my family's curio cabinet.
  • Temecula - Awakened all of us. Stuff fell off the dresser. About 25 secs long.
  • Escondido 92026 - Lasted maybe 15 seconds. House rolled with the shake and then stopped.
  • Fallbrook - I felt 2 jolts, one was really strong. None of my hanging lamps were swaying, so I thought it was an explosion.
  • poway - Felt lower legs shaking a bit while standing in place inside the house. Also felt a little sick to stomach, so decided to lay down.
  • Temecula, Rancho California Rd. - While sitting at my desk, I felt a very strong jolt, like building had been rammed, then quick recovery. I was on 3rd floor of hotel.
  • Murrieta - Heard the house creak, then felt a little jolt. No one else in the house felt it. They were sleeping!
  • Temecula - My family was awakened by the loud noise caused by the walls shaking. I was very scared since it was the strongest one I've ever felt.

    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.

Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move.     Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
