  • Lamphun - A few seconds, gentle but noticeable shaking.

  • San sai - Sitting at my desk on a rolling chair and rolled back and forth. Heard the house creak.
  • San Sai - While sitting on the 4th floor of my apartment it began swaying back-and-forth two or three times then stopped for a few seconds and began again for another couple of sways. There is no noticeable damage. Bottles on the shelf were rocking back-and-forth and rattling. Being on the 4th floor probably amplified the effect of the quake.
  • Chiang Mai - Shaking for around 30 seconds. Felt like I was on a chair and someone was shaking it.

  • Phuket - Was on holiday from the U.K. in a rented villa. My bed shook and the sliding patio doors shook. This was around 4am in morning on 6th May 2015. My daughter and two granddaughters said I had dreamt it lol 😂 but I was doing a crossword cos could not sleep! Was wide awake. Quite scary! 😮

  • Krabi - May 6 2015 4:20am I felt a deep vibration for 1/2 sec,like someone had crashed softly outside my Bungalow! Went out to look but nothing,maybe but not sure another one smaller vibration some minutes later!Same but not so deep today May 7 around 00:30am! My neighbour also felt it!
  • Maprao Island - Woke us up. We thought it was thunder. No damage but building shook for about 10-15 seconds

  • Muang, Phuket - I woke up suddenly, it felt like a big oevrloaded truck moving near the house and it was slight rumble
  • Phuket - Around 04:20 we noted unusual vibration combined with rumbling noise for a couple of seconds. House and windows were vibrating. FirstI thought about a huge distant explosion but learned that it was an earthquake
  • AoNang - House large crack in foundation, pictures swayed.
  • phuket - Woke up randomly to a rumble and felt the bed shaking. Then i could feel it get weaker as it moved like a wave.

  • Thai Muang - Ressenti vers 4h20 du matin, durant plusieurs secondes. Aucun dommage.
  • krabi - My friend and I were both woken up to the house shaking. We both live in japan so we are used to earthquakes but this one felt pretty strong. But nothing fell or broken that I'm aware of.
  • Klong nin - I'm thought it was crazy thunder but now read the report of earthquake so not sure?
  • Karon - I felt a shake and woke up, then there was nothing, i thought it was just my wife that maybe moved next to me.

  • Krabi - Enough to wake me up but not my husband. Thought it might have been him kicking in his sleep.
  • Bangtao Beach, Phuket - I was woken by shaking (I now know at about 4.20) and a rumbling noise. I immediately thought it an earthquake, but quickly dismissed it as thunder and my husband moving next to me. No apparent damage to the house.
  • Koh Yao Noi - No damage. Just got woken up at 4.20am with light and brief shaking of the house.
  • Rawai - It wobbled for two seconds
  • Phuket - Felt it quite strongly, the whole room was shaking for about 4 seconds, loud rumbling sound, started at about 4.18 am, no damage.
  • Chalong - Woke me up at 4:20ish. Third Earthquake in a couple of months, slept through the last one and didn't even notice the first - this was clearly significantly stronger. Watched water displacement in plunge pool on waking.
  • Phuket - Woke me up and moved things around the house a little.
  • Kata beach - Staying in hotel, initial movement and noise was sudden with bed shaking a few millimetres side to side for about 5 seconds but moderate, vibration in bed seemed to go on for several minutes. On 4 th floor on a hill
  • Ko yao yai - Un énorme bruit nous a reveillé comme si un arbre tombait sur notre maison. Nous sommes sortis comme tout semblait normal, nous avons pensé que c'était le tonerre.

  • Kathu Phuket Thailand - minor shaking while in bed
  • Chalong - Weak shaking of windows woke me up.
  • Phuket - A few seconds of weak shaking, then again. All was quiet then dogs barked and birds chirped. No damage.
  • Rawai, Phuket - No property damage. Heard noise, felt quick shaking for about 4 seconds! I understand the 3.4 earthquake was just to the west of Phi Phi Don Island about 25k to the East South East of Phuket!

  • Chiang Mai - @Localtime 5:30am i was sleeping n suddenly i woke up.. the bed gave a shake at first.. i thought it was the springs mayb.. but later the shake continued for a long time.. it lasted about a min or 2... the water in the bottle was also moving..
  • Chiang Rai - Heftig schudden, we zaten buiten, van huis af gerend. Schade aan beelden en glaswerk binnen, verder geen schade aan muren/dak. Tot op heden naschokken te voelen (woensdag, 20.oo uur plaatselijke tijd). Mijn deur staat open en de handtas klaar om weg te vluchten. ER Bedankt voor uw bijdrage !
  • Chiang Mai - It,s been shaking on and off for about 15 minutes allready. Started 3:43 A.M. Now 4:01 and and still not finished. It woke me up, it feels like the bigger one ehere it all started with.

  • Chiang Mai - a few seconds shaking, a couple of time. glass and mirror doors made noise.
  • Phayao - At about 6:20 Pm on 5-4-2014 felt a very strong earth quake. It was raining here at the time with strong winds so at first I thought the wind was getting much stronger. Hose starting moving so we ran into the safety room in the house. The earthquake lasted about one minute but it seemed like 5 minutes. We felt very dizzy at the time. We had no after shocks that night however today (6-4-2014) we felt 2 after shocks at about 7:50 to 7:55. The time between the 2 after shocks was about 5 minutes.
  • Chiang mai - During the night very small tremor, felt bed moving for a couple of seconds. This morning-0750, 06/05/2014, building swaying for a few seconds.
  • Chiang Rai - 1 hour before the internet was very bad. Strong shaking. All neighbours move outside very quick. No damage to the house. Some objects fall off shelves etc. Tons of after shocks. Just under 10km from the Epi Center 3km down on road 1020. For a few seconds I thought my house would collapse and this might be it.

  • Chiang Rai - AFTERSHOCKS - 4am - 10 hours after initial quake - aftershocks continue - light shaking.

    People :
    Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
