  • Mechanicsburg - Shaking lasted 3 seconds or so. Sounded like a rumble of thunder or loud bass.
  • Chambersburg - Felt shaking twice about 3 seconds apart

  • Sunbury - Very weak shaking
  • Mercersburg - It only lasted a few seconds but we felt it. We thought a jet flew over the house.

  • Mentor - shook sunroom foundation and felt movement of chair was it a strong wind gust or earthquake?
  • Euclid, Ohio - It lasted about 10 seconds.
  • Solon - a rumble and the building made a noise
  • Cleveland - Maybe 1-2 seconds, no damage
  • Mentor - Shook the whole store. Thought the store got hit because of how strong it was.
  • Concord Township, OH - Moderate shaking
  • Painesville Ohio - About 5 seconds no damage. The entire building shook
  • Mentor - In basement sounded like something hit the house
  • Mentor-on-the-Lake - 3-4 seconds. Knocked a small potted plant off the window sill.
  • Eastlake - No damage but all neighbors felt the shake lasting about 15 seconds
  • EASTLAKE - Moderate shaking
  • Mentor - Felt similar to the March 1987 earthquake. Lasted a second or two. Told my son that it felt like a 3.9 to 4.1 magnitude earthquake. Nailed it !
  • Independence - I felt light building shaking. I am on the third floor/top floor of the building. It lasted only a second, but felt like someone jumped or dropped something heavy on the roof.
  • Broadview heights - Felt the bed shaking as I was watching TV. Lasted 5-7 seconds. Nothing fell off walls and didn\'t notice any structure damage.
  • MENTOR - Light shaking
  • Mentor , Ohio - 1-2 seconds. Almost like a tremendously powerful gust of wind on my house
  • Mentor, OH - Felt a little like a wave. Accompanied by a low-level thunder noise. Low frequency kind of growl. Similar to a jet but lower tone. Whole house shook. 4 bedroom home - 2 story. My sister on Hobby Horse Lane, also Mentor, felt it too and called me.
  • Mayfield heights - Lasted about 5 seconds nothing damaged just felt bed shaking and mirror was shaking
  • Eastlake, Ohio - It shook the house pretty good. A couple small things fell over around the house.

  • willowick - Happened at 10:45 am DST in Willowick, Ohio. Lasted a few seconds.
  • Solon - Felt a little rumble/shake that lasted about 5 seconds. Thought maybe someone was walking VERY heavily around the office until I read the news!
  • Mayfield Village - Moderate shaking
  • Akron - I felt gentle shaking for 5 seconds or so.
  • Beachwood - Light shaking
  • Mayfield Heights - Thought someone hit the house the way the house shook. Lasted about 10 seconds. Woke my fiancé up from sleeping.
  • Willowick - A couple of seconds, whole house shook, several picture frames dropped.
  • Mentor - Approximately 10:50 Am, woke me up. Approx lasted 2 seconds. felt like it was moving from east to west.
  • Lakeline - Stronger than normal; knocked bikes over; lasted less than a minute, followed by 2 aftershocks so far.
  • Shaker Heights - Computer screen rocked back and forth
  • Mentor - maybe 1 sec...felt like something hit the building
  • Lyndhurst - No damage, but the brick building did shake. Like a big gust of wind shook the build.
  • Solon - I felt minor shaking for a only a few seconds sitting at my desk at work, no one else in the room felt it. No damage from what I can tell.
  • Cleveland - Moderate shaking
  • Cleveland - shaking for about 3 seconds....felt light, but in a large building
  • Medina County - Thought it was thunder at first. Wasn't sure. Then a friend sent this link. Amazing!
  • North Ridgeville - heard a rumble outside and a small shake for a second.
  • Concord, OH - Moderate shaking
  • Mentor ohio - I live in Mentor My whole house shook I heard like a boom I thought my house was going to explode I ran outside . Dogs were all barking then my neighbors said they experienced the same thing!
  • Mentor - 1-2 seconds. The strongest quake I've felt over the years in this area. It frightened me and I thought something like a tree or a truck struck my house.
  • Chardon - On the second floor felt the floor and outside wall shake, windows rattled. Approx 10:51 am.
  • Mentor - My computer screen shook very hard. you could almost feel it moving under your feet through the ground.
  • Wickliffe - Was sitting at work and the whole building shook really bad. Went outside to make sure that a truck did not hit my building 🤦🏽‍♀️😆!!
  • Willoughby Hills - Sounded like someone hit the store I work in. Shaking for 2-3 seconds, no damage.
  • Mentor - We were in the house and we felt moderate shaking.
  • Chesterland, Ohio - Weak shaking
  • Lyndhurst - Brief 5-10 seconds of shaking, nothing disturbed. Working in office, thought something fell due to construction work we have going on in the building or that one of my coworkers fell or dropped something.
  • Beachwood - Lasted only a few seconds, sitting at my desk at work and felt very light vibrations under my feet from the floor and my hands as I was typing on my keyboard. Thought it was from the wind blowing around outside.
  • Grove City, Pa - I was not sure it was a quake. Lived in California for 60 years so I am sensitive to shaking.
  • University Heights - My kids called saying house shook like someone hit the house. Some things were slightly moving. My husband said the whole house shook.
  • Euclid, OH - Approximately 3-4 seconds, very loud. No property damage
  • CLEVELAND HEIGHTS - Lasted about 5 to 10 seconds... Scared me to death I thought something was going to happen bad..
  • Euclid - Felt the shaking for a few second, assumed it was one of the overhead cranes, although I did notice that it felt much stronger than the shaking that results from the crane.
  • Painesville, Ohio - Felt the house beneath me shaking, all of the cupboards began to rumble.
  • Cleveland Heights - Lying in (memory foam) bed, felt like someone had jumped onto it, twice, about one second apart. Heard some settling noises from the house, but nothing more than a strong wind might elicit.
  • Mayfield Heights - Moderate shaking
  • Eastlake - Pictures fell off wall a few things fell off shelves & moved in cupboards. Neighbors all came out. Scary
  • Mentor - The seemingly powerful sound of the house shaking was very sudden and lasted about 2 seconds. I was on the 2nd story of my home and thought a large tree had crashed through the roof. I went outside to inspect and ultimately was met by a few concerned neighbors. I asked a lady walking her dog about it and she did not feel anything.

  • Shaker Heights - It lasted about 10 seconds. It felt like a truck was driving into the house. It seems I have some wall cracks.
  • Ohio City - Very weak shaking
  • Cleveland - Felt like the neighbor was drilling. Gentle shake.
  • Ravenna, OH - I thought it was thunder, but I heard distinct rumbling.
  • Cleveland Heights - House shook for about 3 seconds
  • Willoughby Hills - House felt like it was hit by a tree. Lasted just a few seconds. Did not feel any aftershocks. One tree cracked.
  • painesville, ohio 44077 - Whole house and I shook for 4-5 seconds
  • Garfield Hts - I felt my bed shake and could hear my solid wood armoire vibrate.
  • Richmond Heights - It was strong enough to wake me.
  • Mayfield - I'm on the 3rd floor of a building and I felt the building shake, but my co-workers didn't notice.
  • Mentor - We thought a car hit our building. Went to check and everyone from adjacent buildings were checking too. Mentor Ave near Heinen's plaza.
  • Willoughby - Loud boom. Was in bathroom . Cat came in room with her tail enlarged about 4 in in diameter and hair standing up on her back.
  • Willowick - Ceiling fan swaying and shaking, kitchen table and chairs jumping; shaking made me lose my footing.
  • Chardon - thought it was thunder shook the house no damage
  • cleveland heights - Lying in bed on second floor. Felt shaking for 2-3 seconds. No damage noticed.
  • 44094 - THE BUILDING FELT LIKED IT MOVED SIDE TO SIDE FOR ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS. HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHEN IT STARTED. FELT LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE BUILDING
  • Cleveland - We heard a loud boom, sounded like an truck hit our building, which has happened in the past. Light shaking for appx. 2-3 seconds. Checked around the whole building inside & out & don't see any damage at this time.
  • Brantford - Lasted about 15 seconds. Lying in bed and it was shaking back and forth
  • North Royalton - Felt the bed shake as I was resting. Having been in earthquakes before, I recognized the shaking as an earthquake. (It was either that or something was under the bed!) Very week shaking lasted only for two or three seconds. No damage.
  • Lyndhurst - I was sitting on an ottoman in the living room while on a conference call. The shaking lasted just for a few seconds, maybe 5. I jumped up because I didn’t know if something was going on somewhere else in the apartment building. No property damaged in my unit.
  • Euclid - Felt the tremors on the 11th floor of a 16 story building. No damage as far as I know.
  • Willowick - Very LOUD EXPLOSION! One big shake LOUD! People ran outside and the neighbors did too. Felt like an explosion. Did not feel like my prior earthquake experience where things swayed.
  • East Cleveland - Felt it for 3-5 seconds. No damage.
  • Willwowick, Ohio - I was serving a funeral in Willowick, Ohio and the whole Church shook. Felt like a freight train hitting the back of the Church. Everything rattled for about 5 to 6 seconds.
  • Akron - Light shaking
  • North Huntingdon Township - I felt vibration that lasted about forty five seconds and have felt three lessor vibrations lasting ten seconds or so since then. I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which affects nerves and vibration cause tremendous pain.
  • Willoughby, Ohio - Felt like a truck hit the hospital. A very big truck.
  • UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - I was sitting at my computer and initially, I thought it was a truck, but quickly decided it was a tremor! It lasted approx 7 secs.
  • Painesville - There was one hard boom that shook the house. Lie someone hit the house. just a second or two.
  • Garfield Heights - Felt my bed shake and at first thought it may be my cat. Weird but not alarming.
  • Eastlake - Moderate shaking
  • Painesville - Felt shaking and furniture rattling 4-5 seconds
  • Cleveland Hts. - Moderate shaking
  • Cleveland ohio - Driving on lake rd going west and car was riding very lumpy 4 seconds
  • Akron - no damage
  • North Royalton - Brief shaking of my desk. No damage. Lasted about 5 seconds.
  • Cambridge Springs, PA - Felt movement on second floor of building. Lasted a couple of seconds.
  • Painesville - Whole house shook. Felt like a car hit the house. Low rumbling sound. Lasted around 5-10 seconds. No damage that I k ow of.
  • WICKLIFFE - Felt the whole house shake for a few seconds. The sound, sounded like someone drove into the house and hit it.
  • Cleveland Heights - Clearly noticeable shaking for about 15 seconds. No damage.
  • Mentor - Light shaking
  • Bedford - a few seconds and when it occurred I said to myself that was an earthquake - no damage
  • London - I was walking and I thought I was having a dizzy spell because I swayed while walking
  • Euclid - Around 2:30 I heard a massive BOOM coming from what seemed like the sky, many hours after the quake. Hoping to gain some insight, and see if it was realated
  • Mentor Ohii - Third floor of the building I work at. Felt the building shake and move.
  • painesville - Sitting on the side of the bed, it rolled firmly back & forth.
  • Cleveland - Light shaking
  • Mentor on the Lake - Around 11am Sitting at my desk and the dog started barking - within seconds the whole house and windows rattled and I felt the floor rumble. All about 5sec worth. No damage
  • Broadview Heights - Very weak shaking
  • Beachwood - On third floor of building. Felt like someone was bumping into my chair and the floor was moving. Only lasted a couple seconds.
  • Cleveland - I was in Cleveland City Hall. Most of my coworkers and I felt a slight shaking for about a second.
  • Broadview Hts - Heard weird creaking and shifting in the house. Noted windows vibrating. No damage.
  • euclid - last few seconds. i was cutting grass very very cool. little stronger wluld of been fine with me.

  • Montreal - Fell to the floor trying to escape, I don't know how many people may be injured or dead
  • Sebring - Two-story connecting brick buildings downtown historic felt like shaking enough that when I was laying on the floor playing with the cat watched my body slightly wiggle I thought there was no way that could have been it but possibly? I'm not that it caught my attention

  • Byesville - I was woken up with my bed shaking. It felt as if a tree it the house. It lasted for approximately 10 seconds.

  • Quaker City - It felt like a tree fell on our house. Standing in the kitchen I had to grab ahold of the wall, because it shook the house so bad. Scared my brothers and mom came running in from the living room. Lasted for at least 5-7 seconds
  • Byesville - Watching a movie.. Felt couch shaking.
  • Byesville - Shook whole house for a good 10 seconds or so. Bed, dressers, tvs all shook.
  • Cambridge - Sitting in bed and felt the bed shake. Little freaky to feel it shake like that.
  • Byesville - Heard a crack and felt house start to shake. At least 5 seconds
  • Senecaville - It shoke my couch sideways, the wall and doors moved.
  • Cumberland, OH - Laying in my room and things started to shake. Felt like someone running in the hallway.
  • Senecaville - Felt like something hit the side if the house and shook my bed and Troon the wall and went to look outside nothing was there
  • Byesville - Woke me up, felt as if someone was vigorously shaking bed. Kids felt couch shake as if someone had a hold of it.
  • Summerfield - Felt furniture and floor shake
  • Batesville /Temperancevilla Area - It felt like something hit the house. My floors vibrated.
  • Calais, OH - Standing inside, first floor, sudden jolt as if something hit house. Lasted a few seconds.
  • Temperanceville - Noticeable boom or thud woke us up from a sound sleep. No damage noted.

  • Poland - Haven't checked property yet. Felt very strong-like a fright train came rushing under the through my house!!
  • Meadville, PA - No damage...just felt the 'dizzy' feel and the dishwater and my coffee was 'jiggling'. Thought I was losing my mind!

  • Lorain - I was at work in a construction trailer. I felt a rumbling. I thought it was large machinery being moved at the plant next door but didn't see anything. It was odd but not frightening. I think it's cool that I felt it and now I find out it was an earthquake.

  • Mentor Headlands - I felt it. My shelves shook things on my shelves and the windows rattles. It lasted no more than 5 seconds.
  • Painesville - Very loud, low rumbling, followed by the walls and doors inside my house shaking strongly.
  • Fairport Harbor - Thought there was an explosion outside, felt a big boom.
  • Mentor - My bed shook enough for it to wake me up.
  • Mentor, Ohio - Just got out of bed, getting ready for work and heard the rumble-like thunder. The house creaked and that's it. I first thought it was thunder, checked the radar, no storms around. Figured it was a quake!
  • Mentor OH - We live in North Mentor on Lakeshore Blvd with the 800 Acre Marsh preserve behind the houses across the street. We live really near Grand River and also not far from Fairport Harbor. At about 3:00 AM I felt a noise and the front screen door popped and the house creaked and I thought we had an intruder....Then at around 7:00 AM I heard another noise and a loud thump resonated in the house and I guess that was the one you have recorded. However, I believe that there were two.... You should check
  • Norwalk, Ohio - I was in the shower and felt off balance for a few seconds. My razor was lying upside down on the shelf and pivoting back and forth. I kept looking at it and finally concluded it must have been from vibration of CD player next to it. Interesting to watch the razor move.

    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
