  • Valley Springs - Sounded like a tornado too the top off of my house with light shaking
  • Lakeway - It sounded like rolling thunder then the house shook for several seconds
  • Ozark, MO - Lying in bed, and the noticeable shaking lasted for several seconds, somewhere between five and ten. A little scary.
  • Pruitt AR - Was sleeping on ground while camping. Heard through the ground rumbling that sounded like very large piston engines, then a huge clunk, then the rumbling continued for some time before fading. It may have lasted 30 seconds.

  • Branson West, mo - There was a low rumbling, just past 0740ish. Sounded like a large cement truck rolling past the front of our house. Lasted several "long" seconds. Spouse awoke and asked if there was some sort of truck rolling down or up the street. After watching the news this evening (6/12/17) we realized it was the earthquake. Reminiscent of a 4.5 in Hultuco,Oxaca, Mexico in Feb 2003. Same low truck rumbling sound.
  • Bellefonte, Arkansas - Woke us up, sounded like a heavy truck rumbling several seconds, our dogs were barking. There's a hairline crack in our second story ceiling. We also thought we had felt some brief, very light movement mid-afternoon the day before.
  • Ozark - Heard a sound at same time quake happened
  • Springfield MO - Awake in bed when felt/heard a very slight movement/sound. Only lasted about 5 seconds.
  • Chadwick - We heard it more than felt it, we first thought it was thunder or an explosion.
  • harrison ar - It was more like a loud vibration. I looked up experiences people had from fracking earthquakes and they all explained it sounding like a truck and more like a vibration or a boom followed by vibrations. I believe these quakes are due to fracking somewhere

  • Eureka Springs - Heard rumbling first, sounded kind of like rolling thunder then mild shaking
  • BLUE EYE - Laying in bed, heard what I thought might have been someone blasting to build a new home sight...house shook...continued to shake for what seemed about 10 seconds
  • Alpena, AR - We woke up to the house shaking pretty hard and pictures rattling almost off the wall. I thought a truck had driven through our basement wall or something! Lasted for probably 1-2 minutes?
  • Blue Eye, Missouri - Rumbling like thunder or maybe a blast and then shaking for about 10 seconds
  • Bergman - felt like an explosion wave. a strong shaking that traveled through my bedroom and out the wall. Shook the chair I was sitting on and there was a loud rumbling noise as of a slight avalanche
  • Everton, AR near Harrison - Woken up from a deep sleep. No damage that I've seen yet, but I'm still half asleep. Not sure how long it lasted except that it felt much longer than any other I have experienced here. It was about 7:45 a.m.
  • Eureka Springs, AR, USA - Heard rumbling first, like rolling thunder, then mild shaking. Lasted about 5 seconds including sound.
  • Omaha - No damage. Rumbling woke some up.
  • Omaha - Lasted about 10 Seconds. Sounded like an explosion.House shook, windows vibrated.
  • Batavia - 40 to 50 seconds of trimmer vibration shaking. No property damage. I felt trimmers like this many years ago, so I knew it was an earthquake. I don,t live far from the epic center of this quake ,Willis,Arkansas Thank you for your reports. Phil Rackley
  • Yellville AR - We heard a loud rumbling sound not unlike a sonic boom. Entire house shook for five seconds.
  • Hollister - Deep rumble sound lasted about 10 seconds, seemed to engulf everything.like all moved in unison, or quivered rather than spasmic.almost like a train run under you very deep. By Table Rock Dam.
  • Harrison - Heard a loud bang, then shook the floor. Lasted several seconds. We thought it might be a car accident outside but there was nothing
  • Berryville - Felt the floor vibrating under my feet. Windows started rattling. Lasted long enough for me to realize it was actually an earthquake and not just my washing machine.
  • HARRISON ARK - LOUD BOOM STRONG SHAKE LASTED 2 SECONDS
  • Protem, Mo - Just heard a roaring/rumbling sound. Some pans rattling. Didn't last very long, maybe a minute or two. No damage that i know of.wasn't for sure what it was. Thought maybe military plane at first. Went outside and heard rumbling sound toward south west.
  • Norfork - Felt the house start shaking, shook me in my chair and could hear the house shaking. Lasted maybe 4 seconds.
  • Eureka Springs AR - 7:37 a.m. felt the tremor, thought maybe it was a truck on the county road but no. Pronounced shaking. Got my attention.
  • Reeds Spring - Slight boom followed by low level rumbling. Windows shook twice. About 2 seconds each time.
  • Harrison - My 1 year old son was walking between me and our front door and we heard a loud BOOM, followed by rumbling and then shaking for about 10 to 15 seconds. My son panicked and couldn't get into my arms fast enough. No property damage. Definitely freaked us out though.
  • Mountain hometo - I thought a heavy truck was going past my house. It was more of a heavy vibrating or heavy base on a boom box and it was gone in 10 seconds.
  • Mt Judea - Heard a low rumbling sound that lasted a few seconds, sounded almost like a rumble from a gas hot water tank coming on, then it slowly faded. No shaking felt, no damage.
  • Bradleyville - Floor shook under our feet.Heard the rumble. Fish bowl water disturbed. Lasted maybe 10- 15 seconds.
  • Eureka springs - Rumbling noise for about 10 seconds then mild shaking. About 20 seconds total
  • Harrison, Arkansas - We herd a loud explosion sound followed by our whole home shaking and moving. It felt like our home was going to collapse. Nothing fell off the walls. But it shook hard enough to shake the home.
  • Diamond City, Arkansas - Sounded like a large explosion. Shaking lasted for several seconds. House shook and things rattled.
  • Branson - It felt like someone backed into my house. It seemed like there was one rumble and then another rumble, but then it quit, so I dismissed it and continued doing what I was doing. I got on Facebook and my friends felt what I felt and that's when I realized it was an earthquake.
  • Harrison - I was standing outside on my deck when I felt the shake and herd a boom and seen the concussion move through the air. I have never seen the concussion of a earthquake move through the air before.
  • Harrison AR. - Was sleeping my buddies whole property shook woke me up in a heartbeat I thought it was an explosion
  • Diamond City - Explosion like sound, Loud rumble, ground vibrated
  • Pine Mountain - Sounded like a train passing...lasted for approx. 10 sec....no ripple onBull Shoals lake water or trees shaking...no immediate internal damage observed after cursory inspection.
  • Ridgedale, MO - Felt like a large airplane was flying low or a large truck passing close to the house. Heard a rumble, house shook for about 15 seconds.
  • Hollister, MO - Felt like large truck outside or thunder rumble for several minutes. When it started my dog began to growl for no reason.
  • Alpena ark - Loud noise sounded like a plane but then we felt the shaking lasted about a minute.
  • Nixa, MO - Low rumbling and vibration for 20 seconds...glass shelves making vibration noise
  • Omaha, AR - Was walking by my window when I heard the window vibrate, and also heard a loud rumble. Thought it was maybe a low flying airplane. Heard later it was an earthquake. No damage that I know of.
  • Harrison - Appx 5/10 seconds of shaking and noise like a sonic boom, knocked a picture off my wall. I live 1/2 mile south of Bergman.
  • Harrison - Boom and shaking on third floor of hospital, made my bed rock and then shake for approx 10 seconds. Felt like someone drove a truck into bottom floor of building
  • Harrison - No property damage but the house shook for about 5 seconds and it sounded like a bomb went off.
  • HARRISON - Was at work hotel) felt a very small shaking on the ground. Then felt a very strong vibration. (The building is three story poured concrete building.) I could feel and hear the waves as the traveled UP through the building. Then felt the waves slowly die out. Several guest reported feeling the quake.
  • Jasper - I heard more than felt the earthquake. Thought it was thunder at first but it kept rumbling and I realized it was probably an earthquake. Lasted probably 30 seconds.
  • Harrison - Lasted about 15 seconds. Shook house. Sounded like thunder. Shook pictures on walls. Very loud. Scary.
  • Omaha - Heard Rumbling, Then house/windows shake. Lasted about 10 seconds.I don't see any property damage yet.
  • Branson West - Tools on my workshop were rattling around For 5-10 seconds
  • Kirbyville - It sounded to me like a piece of big rig construction equipment or the most horrendous thunder I've heard. It seemed to last almost a minute or so. The entire house shook. It was very loud.
  • Peel Arkansas - Sounded like construction or a big truck nearby. Was in hammock and didn't feel any shaking
  • Harrison Arkansas - We heard a loud rumbling boom...sort of rolling....sounding like thunder. The walls creaked...and I felt a movement of the floor albeit slight but I was barefooted at the time. The first 'boom' noise was only 5 seconds...the rolling thunder noise about 20 more seconds. Everything in the room trembled. We are north side of the city of Harrison AR.
  • Norfork - Heard rumbling noise and then my house made 2 loud pop noises. Lasted about 10 seconds.
  • BRANSON - I NOTICED MY VASES WERE TAPPING LIGHTLY EACH OTHER FOR NO REASON, HEARD THE NOISE DID NOT FEEL IT.
  • Blue Eye - I have never heard rumbling that loud or long before. Windows rattled briefly.
  • Lead Hill - About 20 second duration. Loud bank with window and wall shaking. No visible property or structure damage. We are located less than four miles from Willis, the indicated epicenter.
  • Harriet - I live in a 3500sqft 2story home,it shook like a bad unbalanced washing machine.
  • Omaha - Omaha AR-I was standing in the kitchen. The whole house shook about 10 seconds. I thought that it is was an earthquake - very loud.
  • Omaha, AR 72662 - I was sitting on the front porch with my spouse when a sudden explosion like sound was followed with about five seconds of the building rattling fairly loud. Some slight rumbling was noticed following the vibrations. No visible damage to the property has been noticed.
  • St. Joe, AR - Loud boom followed by light shaking for about 10 seconds
  • Branson - It sounded like a helicopter was trying to land outside and our one level slab on grade house, all brick, slightly vibrated. The sound was more alarming than anything.
  • Harrison - My wife and I were watching TV waiting for the Sunday news programs when we heard a sound like an explosion and simultaneously the house shook.. It definitely sounded like a gasoline explosion and nearby, but saw nothing out of ordinary.
  • Branson - Woke up to a rumble. Shaking was not perceptible. Sounded like a jet was flying over.
  • Lakewoods Resort - A mild boom sound followed by a rumbling noise with mild shaking that lasted about for about 10 seconds. About 20 seconds total
  • Kingston - Was laying in bed, half awake, and heard a rumbling that lasted just a few seconds.

  • Mountain Home, AR - Heard a crack of house then vibrating floor for 10 secs.
  • Kissee Mills - Unlike the large Oklahoma earthquake, which shook the houses several seconds, this one started with a loud distant rumbling getting louder very quickly and then a short jolt of shaking. Probably 10 seconds through the whole thing. None of my lights were swinging this time, just some shaking of things on the shelf.
  • Bradleyville - It did not last very long. Dishes in cabinets shook, my plants vibrated. I was on the top floor and could feel the vibration under my feet. I was pouring a cup of coffee.
  • Bergman - Sounded like an explosion, then rumbling followed by shaking and rolling. Very strong movement! Rattled and shook the entire house.
  • Springfield - 10-15 seconds of low grade rumbling. I thought it was thunder or our air conditioning kicking on. There was no shaking, just a very low pitched rumble.
  • Harrison - Woke me up.
  • Monarch, AR - Heard what sounded like a plane, but knew it wasn't a plane when I noticed the lamp shaking. Lasted about 10 seconds.
  • Nixa MO - Heard and felt rattling for about 10-15 seconds. Reminded me of when Military helicopter flies over the house and everything rattles for a few seconds
  • Jasper Arkansas - While drinking coffee, we experienced a mild but very definite shake of our building, lasting less than two seconds. No damage.

    People :
    Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
