Magalia, CA : This earthquake shook on the walls and it freaked out my cats. They scrambled and that's when I knew it was more than just a wind storm or something. I just stayed on the couch while it was happening, I was laying down watching TV, and the house started shaking then it rolled a little for about 30 seconds. The cats stood still for a moment, then darted under chairs and tables. I rarely feel any earthquakes up here, in fact it think it was the first one I've felt while living up here and I've lived here since September 1998.

Right then she received a text from her friend who said "earthquake!"
Nevada City, CA : Just falling asleep @ 11:40 pm pst. Felt a moderate rolling motion nothing fell and  no apparent damage. Lasted about 10 seconds, but seemed longer at the time. We are at 3800 ft elevation and on a hill side about 3 miles from Emmigrant Gap as the crow flies.Wow brought back memories of Southern California & the several earthquakes I have experienced.
Lake Tahoe : i live right across the lake in lake tahoe. The quake was strong enough to shake my old heavy iron bed and send the 1-2.5 pound  ''day of the dead'' papier-mache skeletons that hang from my ceiling swinging, and they shook for quite awhile after the last tremor.  It was a  ''bumpy'' type shake and i was concerned that the 50" tv screen would topple and it seemed to last a while.  I experienced the LOMA PRIETA  1989 earthquake when i lived in santa cruz ca. and it felt a little like the ''rolling'' action of the after shakes then and was enough of a flashback to alert me for a second or two...
Grass Valley : This was the longest earthquake I've felt in this area. I have felt several in the past 50 years that only last a few seconds, this one must have been about 45 seconds!
Paradise, CA : This was my first earthquake since moving here from Chicago (though we felt one there a couple of years ago), and it literally rocked my world.  Shake, pause, then a stronger shake.  I was sitting up with an 88-year-old man, and when I suggested that we move to the doorway, he merely said he'd only go there if he heard the doorbell ringin'.  Yeah, I laughed.
Butte Co. Paradise : Sitting on porch, felt strong first shake about afew seconds ,then another one that lasted about 30 seconds.
Rocklin, CA : I was watching T.V. upstairs in bed and the bed started shaking  I put my feet on the floor and I felt it move too!!
??? : Approximately 11:31 p.m. October 26, 2011. I work at a hotel.  The building shook briefly and I heard it making some light popping sounds for 5 to 10 seconds.  Guests sitting by the pool said the water in the pool began to make waves although no one was in the pool.
Pioneer,Ca.-Amador County : Sitting at computer and slight "rattling" of one wall in home lasted for about 5 seconds, then stopped.  Second tremor was more of a "rolling" feeling and with more intensity, but not enough to make anything sway or move in home. Duration of second tremor approx 6-7 seconds. No damage. Dog was outside and did not react to quake.
Chico, CA : lasted about 3 seconds, it actually moved the couch i was laying on... upstairs apt, poor construction, can't find any actual damage inside, still dark out, will check later...
Truckee, CA : The whole house shook. Woke up the whole house out of a dead sleep, around 11:30 pm!
Chico, CA : felt the ground moving was very weird.
Garden Valley, CA : It was about 11:40pm last night and our dressers and mirrors started shaking, not much but enough to wake you up and hear it all.  only lasted for about 15 seconds or so
Portola, CA : The bang was so loud thought the dog was chasing the cat and had knocked over a dish. Got up, yelled at the dog when he came from around our bed wondering what just happened. Just one broken dish and I still have got to find what fell to cause the bang.
Garden Valley, CA : Sound asleep when awakened by a strong jolt. A few seconds later had a good shake going on, stronger than the jolt.
Chico, CA : Approximately 11:30pm moderate shaking that rattled the whole house including the chandelier
Chico, CA : It was a little after 11:30 pm and it woke me up out of a dead sleep. I ran out to my son who was studying and his friend was heading for the door jam!
Johnsville, CA : Felt it about 11:37 when it woke us up with a jolt and a crash that sounded like a large pine tree had come down. The whole house was shaking and creaking, sounding like a train was going through the house. No damage, nothing displaced, and do not see any trees down this AM. My old dog got so scared, she jumped up on the bed, and would not get down, and stayed there between us the rest of the night! Johnsville, CA
Nevada City, CA : Awakened from sleep and the shaking seemed like it lasted a  long time!
Lincoln, CA : I was sleeping and woke up to the bed shaking.  There was a low groaning or roaring sound outside.  It seemed to last at about 15-20 seconds.
Paradise, CA : 11:39 pm 10/26/11 entire  house and trees  shaking
Paradise, CA : I was on my computer and suddenly the house started shaking. It was about 11:35 pm on my clock. I live in a mobile home and had thoughts of it coming off it's piers. Things just rattled a bit for about 30 seconds, then a little lull, then a little more shaking. No damage, but it was quite startling.
Yuba City, CA : was sitting at my extremely heavy executive desk surfing the net when the computer and desk began shaking. I thought that I was back in S.F. lol
Paradise, CA : I was asleep in bed at around midnight I was awakened by my bed shaking. It lasted several seconds and I was definately nervous.
Penn Valley, CA : I was climbing into bed and a loud rumble started like a huge truck or something was coming up my driveway and when i sat up the whole house started to shake the sliding glass door blinds were all over the place. Little Lala buckled under pressure and jumped up on the bed whimpering and shaking trying to hide under the blankets. It lasted about 5seconds or a lil more. I havent felt an earthquake like that in a verrrrry long time.
