MAINSHOCK October 20, 2011

Update 18:07 UTC :  The region southeast of San Antonio has experienced earthquakes before. There was a 4.3 magnitude earthquake in 1993 near the same location, and there have been smaller quakes recorded back to the 1970s.

Update :  It looks that we are lucky that the epicenter is located in a rural area without many houses and buildings.

UpdateIntensity in relation to villages / cities:
Light shaking: Karnes City, Poth, Kenedy, Floresville, Pleasanton, Three Rivers
Weak shaking: Corpus Christi (277,000), San Antonio (1,257,000), New Braunfels    (46,000), Victoria (62,000) and San Marcos (47,000)

Update :  According to USGS, 77 people will have felt a MMI VII very strong shaking. Damages are not excluded at this intensity. 166 people a strong shaking and 3,000 people a moderate shaking.  639,000 a light shaking and finally 2,490,000 people a weak to very weak shaking.

Update :  We received I Have Felt It reports from Austin to Corpus Christi.

Update :  The uncertainty of the epicenter location is horizontally  +/- 19.3 km (12.0 miles) and vertically (depth) +/- 3.1 km (1.9 miles). In other words the epicenter can be located below another village than mentioned.

Other locations in the epicenter area : Kenedy, Falls City, Christine, Pleasanton and Jourdanton.
Preliminary data show that the earthquake has been felt as far as Austin, Texas

San Antonio, TX: Just seemed somewhat otherworldly and feelings of vibration and rumbling of the building.  Like a strong, deep bass wind.
Cibolo, TX: Felt like a large dump truck driving right by the window
San Antonio, TX: I am on the second floor of a brick building.  I felt like I was on a swaying boat for about 7 seconds.
Elmendorf, TX: Laying in bed, realized bed was shaking/moving, then realized it was the whole house that was shaking/moving...felt like a huge truck was a few feet away, but of course that wasn't the case.  Am guessing over 10 seconds.
Elmendorf, TX: it was about 7:25am and lasted for about 10 seconds...have felt earthquakes before and there is NO other feeling like it.
San Antonio, TX: I woke up to a light shaking of the bed and i looked over at my daughter and she was moving back and forth on the bed, she is only 4 mths so i noticed it the most through her,but i had thought it was a spiritual event becus we have experienced many things before so i didnt really pay much attention till someone called me early this morning and asked if i felt the earthquake...i also heard sound it was like the sound of an airplane close by and it shakes or rattles the windows type thing
Austin, TX: I live on the 5th floor (the top floor) of my apartment complex. I was sitting at my desk getting ready for class and felt shaking under my feet.
Austin, TX: Bookcase was rattling,felt 2 story house slightly rumble.  Felt as though the house was going to collapse.  Happened after 0700am.
San Antonio, TX: I was awake around seven for a brief period trying to wake up my girlfriend when we noticed the vibrations along with things moving in my apartment .
San Antonio, TX: It felt like a large wave going through for about 3 to 4 seconds, I just saw my desk and my dual pc monitors sway. (I was on the 3rd floor of our work building.)

  1. There has alway's been earthquakes, and volcanic eruption's, throughout our history.
    Now they are a bit closer to when they are occuring, because of our present earth stage of evolution.
    They will occur more gradual, than they would suddenly, but it won't be the end of the world that's for sure; the end of this cilvilized world; but not the end of this world.
    It will be a long, and gradual process, not sudden, as most of this hype, is concocted by major propaganda, and media garbage-money making.
