Shallow earthquake which will have been well felt in Newman, Juna Downs, Wittenoom, Mount Sheila, Tom Price, Rocklea, Paraburdoo and Karijini.
The Hickman Crater is 35 km to the north.
42 km (26 miles) W of Newman, Western Australia, Australia. Newman is a small city with 4,245 inhabitants.
Newman is a modern mining town, which implicates that this earthquake has not necessarily a tectonic origin.
