UPDATE April 16 - 09:22 : As feared by earthquake-report, the Tanzanian newspaper Daily news is quoting eyewitness reports from people in Babati that several houses were damaged. Police reported earlier on : no damage or injuries!
UPDATE April 16 - 09:24 : The earthquakes in this area are coming from stress ih the Manyara Rift zone.

Epicenter in the middle of Lake Babati and close to Babati and Bongo.
Although this is a moderate magnitude, the hypocenter is very shallow which can be dangerous for houses in Babati.
Lake Babati is a lake in Tanzania known for its population of hippos. Recent droughts have led to a drop in the number of sightings of hippos, causing concern for local hoteliers. (source Wikipedia)
