UPDATE 18:22 UTC : Reports out of Keping County say that no houses have collapsed, but mobile phones stopped working for a couple of minutes.Not only Keping county felt the quake very strong but also other counties like Wensu County, Awat County and Aksu City (570,000 people)
UPDATE 18:06 UTC : Chinese sources are reporting a magnitude of 4.6 at a depth of 8 km.
In 2009 a 5.2 earthquake in the same region made a lot of damage. Today's outcome is still unsure. Minor damage is still possible in this mountainous Xinjiang autonmous area.

If the USGS epicenter location calculation will be confirmed, the town of Kalpin in Kalpin County will be at risk.
Kalpin county has a population of about 40,000 people.
122 km (75 miles) SW of Aksu, Xinjiang, China and a few km from Kalpin.

UPDATE 17:17 UTC : JMA recorded a magnitude of 5.8 with a max. JMA felt value of 4 (on a scale of 7)
Very strong earthquake (can also be categorized as aftershock) to the northern side of the 8.9 faulting zone and approx. 30 km from Kuji, Iwate.
Iwate was one of the Prefectures who had also a lot of fatalities during the March 11 earthquake
Additional damage is possible from this aftershock.
NO tsunami risk.
