An avalanche of 34 aftershocks is pounding Southern Chile

UPDATE 14/02 - 5:56 PM UTC : Since the aftershock  of 7:21 (see update 10:47 AM) 4 aftershocks have been noticed : 3.9, 4.0, 3.7 and 3.9 (source Universidad de Chile)

UPDATE 14/02 - 10:47 AM UTC : Aftershock Maule M 5.0 at a depth of  10 km at 7:21 AM (local time) following USGS.  Onemi Chile calls it "Menor intensidad" and reports a max. MMI of III

UPDATE 14/02 - 5:31 AM UTC : 2 more moderate aftershocks since the 6.2 shock which we reported 40 minutes ago - they are measuring 4.4 and 4.6.

UPDATE 14/02 - 4:49 AM UTC : Universidad de Chile is reporting a value of 6.2 at a depth of 31 km

Since our update of 2:21 PM the following shocks have been recorded : Mi 5.1, 5.1, 3.5, 4.6 and 4.7 (latest aftershock at 14:54 local time)

UPDATE 13/02 - 1:55 PM UTC : Aftershocks (MI) since 1:29 AM UTC :  3.3, 2.6, 2.6, 4.0, 2.7, 2.9, 2.8, 5.6, 3.3, 3.4, 2.7, 3.3, 3.3, 5.6, 4.3, 4.0, 3.5, 4.5 and  3.4 (latest aftershock at 09:52 local time)

UPDATE 13/02 - 10:56 AM UTC : USGS reports magnitude 6.0 aftershock in the Bio-Bio area

UPDATE 13/02 - 1:29 AM UTC : 6 more : 4.1, 3.6, 4.5, 3.6, 3.8 and 3.9

UPDATE 2:46 UTC : it didn't stop at the top of the image below. Here are the following aftershocks : 4; 3.4, 3.2, 3.5, 3.1, 3.9, 4.5 and 4.1. All these shocks in a matter of 6 hours !

People often see only the reports about the mainshock, in this case the M 6.9 shock of 5:05 PM.
The following hours at least 34 weak, moderate and strong aftershocks have been hammering the area.
