  • Port St. Joe, FL - At approximately 11:03 EST on Saturday, March 8th 2014 an earthquake lasting only 10-20 seconds occurred. I was lying on the couch when it began and I distinctly felt the couch moving beneath me. The windows of the house were rattling, as was my cup on the table beside me. After the first quake there was a 30-45 second lapse, then two more sharp shakes. At this time, the two dogs outside began to bark
  • Key West Florida - A shaking noise in our 2nd floor apt. overlooking a marina on the gulf of mexico. I thought it was our dog scratching but not. The plants in the home were also moving back and forth for aprox. 2 minutes.
  • Key west - 4th floor of apt at 730 am march 9, entire building shaking. Key west, next to airport

  • Key West - No damage that we know of …but the building shook. We are on the 4th floor of the Galleon Resort and didn't know what this was. Shook for about 3-4 seconds
  • Ft Lauderdale - I was wakened at 07:30 EST today by the movement of the building in which I live, The experience was short 5-10 seconds but enough for me to know that the building was shaking. I experienced something similar in LA are some years ago, at least enough to know that it was not the effects of morning passion from the neighboring apartment.
  • Key Colony Beach - seven thirtyish march 9 Woke up because bed was shaking, thought at first that it was the dog. Lasted about 15 seconds. Asked around, but no one else had felt it. Was beginning to doubt myself.
  • Varadero - Woke us up....no damage, just pretty good rocking of the bed
  • Varadero - Laying in bed 07:25 Cuban time...the room and bed shook worthy of a 4+ for what little I know about earthquakes :) Zero damage.
  • Varadero - Vacationing. Awoken on the 6th floor. Lightbulbs shook from their sockets and beds gyrated.
  • Varadero - Shaking of the bed
  • Key Colony Beach - Felt the bed shaking then a slight pause and it happened again. Lasted a few seconds each time.Others in the house noticed doors moving and a mirror moved.
  • Varadero - woke us up. the beds were shaking
  • Varadero - A steady rocking motion woke me. At first I thought perhaps heavy equipment was near our two storey building but realized after several seconds it was an earthquake. I went to the patio and noticed a man on the balcony of the block in front of mine. He was checking his outer wall for damage. None noted. We just looked at each other, then went back inside. I asked a few others later that day yet few seemed to have noticed anything. I thought it was around 2:30 a.m.

MMI II (Very weak shaking) ?
    People :
Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
