Update 24/06 – 23:58 UTC
- IGN has just added another earthquake to their list. A M2.3 quake at a depth of 22 km below the El Golfo beach at 22:00.
Update 24/06 – 23:21 UTC
The least we can say, it that the harmonic tremor is one of the strongest since a while. The hourly graph below shows the HT variations in a better way than the daily graph.
No earthquakes so far in the vicinity of the eruption cone, only at El Golfo. The HT stronger amplitude line is however not constant.
We are very curious what the authorities will report tomorrow, … if the HT continues at the present levels.

Thank you to Julio and Joke
I just returned from a 3- week holiday period in the western USA, impressive nature including Yellowstone caldera, Idaho and California volcanoes.
I want to express my gratitude to Julio del Castillo Vivero who has regularly updated this article (Julio was in frequent contact with Joke Volta). (Armand)
Update 24/06 – 22:51 UTC
A fairly strong M3.1 earthquake occurred in the El Golfo bay tonight and was followed by a number of smaller earthquakes in the same area, this only in a couple of minutes. The depth for all the earthquakes was around 20 km, a depth which was also noticed in the pre-eruption phase.
The CHIE tremor graph below is showing a little wider amplitude since the quakes have started.

Update 24/06
- No earthquakes today or yesterday.
Update 22/06
- Since the 19th June there have been 10 earthquakes, all of them very weak. Here is a list of them

Update 19/06 – 15:00 UTC
- Joke Volta has sent us a few images, here is one of the Hesperides around Las Calmas sea.

Update 19/06 – 12:00 UTC
- Between yesterday and this morning a total of 40 earthquakes. Most of them are clearly part of a swarm and almost all in Frontera.
- Vessel Hesperides in currently around La Restinga. We can’t confirm if they are using the ROV or doing a bathymetry, lets hope they do.
- Using the website of AVCAN we have created this map showing these 40 earthquakes. Activity concentrates primarily on the North side of the Island.

Update 18/06 – 23:00 UTC
- 10 Earthquakes today! It might indicate the system is starting slowly up again as depths are getting smaller. Also, a swarm starting at 21:52 with 7 earthquakes in an hour is significant.
- Seismograph CHIE is showing more earthquakes that haven’t yet been included in the list by IGN.
- Here is the list, with the strongest one of M 2.3 at 22:14.
