Volcano activity of June 23, 2012 – Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Washington, Alaska and California

This (almost) daily post intends to follow up the activity changes of volcanoes all over the world.
This post is written by geologist Richard Wilson who specializes in Volcano seismicity and Armand Vervaeck. Please feel free to tell us about new or changed activity if we haven’t written about it.

June 23, 2012 volcano activity

Apparently a day-off for most volcanoes,… except :

Fuego (Guatemala) where an eruption appears in-progress there.(see seismogram below – station FG3)

Elsewhere, subdued tremor is occurring at Popocatepetl (Mexico) and Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia), along with SO2 emission there (see below).

Small earthquakes are taking place in the vicinity of Mount Saint Helens (WA), the Katmai Volcano Group (AK), and Long Valley Caldera (CA).
