Very strong earthquake out of the Honshu, Japan coast
Just like yesterday, another very strong earthquake just occurred in the Pacific Ocean at a non-damaging distance from the coast. Max. JMA intensity is only 3. NO tsunami risk for this earthquake.
Update : since yesterday, the epicenter area has been shaken by tens of earthquakes and a lot of them above M5. Although normally aftershocks are getting weaker and weaker, we do find the current swarm of relatively strong earthquakes kind of strange compared to normal patterns.
Update 22:38 UTC : The earthquakes are continuing also tonight. Several +M5 earthquakes with an epicenter in between 150 and 200 km out of the coast.

Useful information to read this daily earthquake list
This earthquake list covers important earthquakes in the world.
If a more detailed page is present, the earthquake line will be linked to the detailed page.
For your comfort, we will provide in most cases a Google Satellite Map to give you an idea where the earthquake struck, which terrain it happened and if villages or cities are located in the immediate vicinity. The multi-source approach has been setup to compare values as seismology is not an exact science and needs a lot of calculations. The reference for the time zone is UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, also called GMT). Color explanation if we add some details above the list :
green color = NOT dangerous for damage or injuries
orange color = MODERATE risk for damage or injuries
red color = CONSIDERABLE risk for damage or injuries
