  • Sharm el sheikh - Me and hubby lying on bed when the whole bed started shaking back and forth the chandelier on ceiling was also shaking rapidly. We stayed at Le Royal hotel Naama Bay and everyone we talked to experienced it.

  • Dahab - Weak shaking for 5 sec
  • 6th October - Pecae! I felt a small jolt at about 5:40pm local Egypt time.
  • Cairo - Felt a shake for about 5-7 secs
  • Cairo - Wasn't sure until checked online for time and date
  • Sharm el Sheikh - Geen schade ofzo maar allles leek te bewege. Ik lag op bed en lag te shaken in bed
  • Hurghada - Licht
  • Sharm El-Sheikh - I didn't experience any damage in my area. However it was a strong shaking earthquake that lasted only a few couple of seconds. It's magnitude is estimated to be M5+
  • Sharm el sheik - Was lead in bed before getting ready for dinner and the entire bed wobbled about 4 times. My partner in the room experienced it too
  • Dahab South Sinai - No damage lasted for several seconds
  • Cairo - No damage, but prolonged slight swaying of the building for approx a minute
  • Ain Musa - At approximately 1735 GMT+2 We felt a strong earthquake in the Suez South Sinai area. It lasted for about 10-15 second. Our 2 story villa was moving during the shake. No damage to our villa that we know of.
  • Cairo - Felt everything moving. Was standing in the kitchen when I felt I was about to loose my balance. Fan was moving around and utilities on the walls as well.
  • Sharm - Shaking of beds, windows and furniture, lasted about 5 seconds. No damage
  • Ismailia - light shake felt like some one was rocking the bed for a few seconds
  • Cairo - Moderate shaking east west, 11th floor.
  • Cairo - Lasted about 30 seconds. Was very nauseated right before and dizzy after.
  • Sharm el-Sheikh - Lasted about 4 seconds, the building and walls were shaking but no appliances or furniture shifted and nothing fell off the shelves. No damage at all, but most people nearby felt it. The time was 17:35 local time on June 27, 2015, in Nabq Bay, north of the airport.
  • Nabq Bay Sharm El Sheikh - Woke up and whole room shaking, aware of it for apx. 5 seconds... Noise like a plane... People don't seem to bothered by it. 26th June 2015

  • cairo - 3 to 5 seconds in two repeated times
  • Qena - no damage at all thanks god
  • Sharm el Sheikh - I felt shaking floor, couch and windows. The cat ran out.
  • Egypte - Stond op het balkon licht schudden
  • Sharm el sheikh - No damage to hotel. Felt it for about 5 seconds.
  • Cairo - Was lying on the sofa and felt a light tremble. No damage
  • Gouna - 10 seconds
  • Sharm el Sheikh - Felt the ground shake beneath our feet
  • Luxor - I was sitting in the sofa, when I felt my body started to shake.... I do not know if anything outside has been damaged.
  • Caire - Its the first time for me
  • Sharm - Felt in hotel bed and tv shook
  • Cairo - I live on the 5th floor. There was a jolt and the lights swung.
  • Sharm el Sheikh - no damage, just shaking for few seconds.
  • Dahab - Secousse sans dégât éboulement dans les montagnes visibles de la plage par des nuages de poussieres
  • Cairo - I was lying down. Felt the whole building shaking. It was 5.38. It lasted foe over a minute.
  • Sharm El Sheikh - Chandeliers & dishes in cupboard shook. I thought the ceiling was coming down. Floors shook, lasted for only a matter of seconds
  • Heliopolis, Cairo - Slight east-west motion felt whilst sitting on furniture and light fitting swayed for about 15-20 seconds
  • Cairo - At 0540 PM i was working on my computer for 15-20 Seconds there was moderate shaking. I live in the 5th Floor. Not easy to decide waht to do at this time. Awaeness and Prepardness is so important at these critical times !!
  • Sharm - me n my girlfriend were sitting around pool all of a sudden ground started to shake We look looked around but nobody else seems notice because they were inside the pool in the water I made a remark about a sunami we looked at each other and ran upstairs.
  • Sharm el Sheikh - As usual drama hits Sharm. Very weak earthquake has made lit up social media as old women with young toy boys who need hash and viagra to make the bed move actually found the earth move for real
  • Sharm El Sheikh - It was a 5.1 richter earthquake.. nothing particular about it, the window was shaking.. that's all, but we survived :P
  • Dahab - Strongest earthquake i have ever experienced here, was quite substantial. Caused some land slides in the mountains but so far no major damage reported.
  • Sharm el sheikh - 10 seconds timelapse
  • Sharm El Sheikh - We were in the hotel's shop when we felt the earthquake. Slight shaking at first but them felt a stronger shake and the onurments and glass doors of the shop were shaking fairly well. Slightly shocked as was the staff in the shop. No damages just couple of things dropped on the floor.
  • Dahab - Két rengés volt azonnal egymás után.
  • Dahab - Bottles fell on the floor general shaking lasted five seconds
  • Cairo - weak shaking in Cairo
  • Sharm El Sheikh - Felt like someone was wobbling my chair. Lasted only around 5 seconds. No damage that I am aware of

    MMI II (Very weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.

      I’m staying in Doha, Qatar and felt a vibration in the middle of the night that woke me. don’t have a time but i wanted to make sure i wasn’t crazy!

      im staying on the 34th floor of a hotel so i guess the minior vibrations went straight up the Concrete structure and were amplified. Maybe?

        Perfectly possible. In high rise buildings even weak earthquakes which are not listed internationally can be felt. Thanks for telling us.
