  • Puerto Armuelles - The whole house shook for about 15 to 20 seconds very strongly. I almost went out of the house. The tv was shaking side to side.

  • Ciudad Sandino - I was just fiddling on my computer. Because the other earthquakes were so much stronger I barely felt it. It shook the house a little, but if I had been standing up, I probably would not have felt it.

  • Huacas, CR - 30 seconds in total, first a moderate, then a stronger trembling
  • Granada - 2.30 pm local time 11/4/14
  • Tamarindo, CR - It was very long, more than 30 seconds

  • Flaminogo, CR - We left the hotel just in case. Was here for the major earthquake in Costa Rica 2 years ago. Lot smaller this time

  • Ciudad Sandino - I was lying in the hammock, and I just assumed it was an aftershock from last night, then it went on for thirty seconds.
  • Leon - Visiting for vacation from US. Leon twice Thursday, first very very strong, furniture moving, lasted many seconds. Second, small aftershock. Dizzy after first. Then today Friday afternoon another bad one.
  • Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, CR - Moderate shaking for 30 seconds. No visible damage.
  • San Juan del Sur - One of the strongest in years felt here in SJDS... No damage or any one hurt just lots of shaking going on. Wait for after shock.
  • Leon - We felt the ground shaking and everyone ran out of buildings but it passed fairly quickly
  • Santa Ana - Long and rolling, no shaking.
  • San Juan del sur - No damage noted, only light shaking and mild alarm from patrons, questioning if we should be concerned about tsunami.
  • Heredia - Light shaking
  • Danli - I felt the house shake and heard my front gate shake. It sounded very weird. My friends noticed a crack in their wall.
  • Granada - first earthquake i've ever experienced
  • Santa Elena - Quelques secondes. Pas de dégâts remaqués.
  • San Juan del Sur - First part was light shaking increasing to heavier shaking. A few seconds after it changed to a swaying feeling. No damage to our house but the glass on the windows was shaking violently
  • Managua - Some vases and glass-ornaments fell out of a shelf and broke. Also a mirror fell from the wall. There are some cracks in the ceiling. It was quite long, and it came in waves.
  • San Isidro de Bagaces - Een halve minuut ongeveer ging alles heen en weer, maar veel minder sterk dan in sept. 2012 toen het epicentrum dichterbij onze woonplaats was.

  • Granada - No damage noted, all neighbors ran out into the street
  • Managua - Long shaking, things falling down, lost power and water
  • Managua - Moderate shaking, powerloss for approximately 20 minutes. Two replicas felt.
  • Léon - For me it felt between moderate and strong. I was sitting on the floor and first I thought 'what a heavy transport in the street' because the floor was trembling heavily. Next moment felt the building was moving from left to right.Just a few seconds ago we felt a light tremble after

  • Ciudad Sandino - Strong shaking at 5:35pm. feeling dizzy from the after shocks. Strong shake at 6:06pm. No property damage. We are about 10 km (6.2miles) from center.

  • Managua - Long and strong shaking,
  • Managua - I was on the 3rd floor of a dental office and we had to evacuate due to the movement. This shaking was the longest I have felt thus far here - maybe 30 seconds. Later, after we had gone back upstairs, the tremors from the aftershock made us leave the building again. No damage around here but this was in a new development. No phone service or water afterwards.
  • Boaco - No damage here. Power was out for about 30 minutes.

  • Managua - Earlier today the poles were swaying and you could hear a rumble. Several after shocks at least three.
  • Managua - It was really scary and loud
  • Managua - The walls in my house cracked, my neighbors ceiling collapsed.
  • Managua - No serious damage at work but some damage to a family member's home. One of the walls inside my cousin's house collapsed. My aunt has two walls that cracked. This was due to the 6.2 magnitude earthquake but it's been shaking on and off here in Ciudad Sandino and the rest of Managua. Some are mild and some are a little strong, where can I go to see a report of the magnitudes of all the seismic activity here in Nicaragua for today April 10, 2014?
  • Managua - I was driving home and was at km 9 Carretera Sur when the earthquake hit. The SUV started shaking and we had to stop. People were pouring out of the surrounding businesses all shaken up. When I got home every body was outside. Inside my home some items fell of the shelfs and broke. No cracks or other damage was noticed.
  • Managua - Well im at work and it has shaken twice this morning!! We`re getting a little scared!!

    Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?
    Structures Many low standard buildings destroyed. Ordinary workmanship buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes damaged in some cases, some with flexible frames seriously damaged. Damage or permanent distortion to some buildings and bridges, designed and built to normal use standards. Houses not secured to foundations shifted off. Brick veneers fall and expose frames. Environment : Cracking of ground conspicuous. Landsliding general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects intensified and more widespread, with large lateral spreading and flow sliding adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
