  • Gilli trawangan - No property damage. It woke me up. Lights shaking.

  • Legian - It woke us up as the beds were shaking, seemed to go on for a long time although I suspect it was only about 30 - 40 seconds. No damage to report. Scary and even hotel staff seemed surprised.

  • Seminyak - Strongly shaking for about 20 seconds. Run out of my room. No damage
  • seminyak - woke us up ... there was a smaller shock followed by a bigger one
  • Ubud - Woken up by room shaking. Two tremors a few seconds apart
  • semyniak - no damage but the earthquake was long
  • Nusa lembogan - Shaking woke me up. No windows rattling but felt the whole room shake for about ten seconds.
  • Ubud - Sideroof looked like it will be collapsing, 2 tiles fell down. All hotel guests left rooms
  • Bali/Seminyak - Woke up 07:10 the whole hotell was shaking. No damage.
  • Bali - Woke up to room shaking and rumbling noise, then felt a stronger second wave. Total about 30 seconds.
  • Jimbaran - Two separate shaking events first was light the second much stronger. Felt like the entire event took 30 seconds.
  • Ubud - Lasted 20 seconds the wall out our villa look like it was about to fall
  • Bali - No property damage, hotel building was shaking. Staff quite scared.
  • Benoa - Very strong shaking, no damage
  • Kuta - Strong sustained shaking for approximately 10 seconds. Shaken awake by it. Ran out of our hotel room as did approximately 50% of other guests. Shaking according to my wife seemed to be more back and forth rather than up and down waves which cause more damage. In 8 years of living on Bali that was by far the most powerful I've felt. Curious about Nusa Dua if any damage there.
  • Seminyak - Was in washroom when shaking started. The glas s walls of washroom were shaking and whole room shaked strongly. Rushed out of 2nd floor room using staircase to Ground floor.
  • Ungasan - Thought 1st shock was thunder, 2nd shock shook building but no damage. Strong enough to freak me out.
  • Seraya - My bed started shaking from side to side and It felt as windows in my room are going to break.
  • Gili T - Woke up by light shaking of the house. Around 7am on march 22, 2017. No property damage, it only lasted a few seconds.
  • Sanur - No damage, but definitely a bigger longer earthquake than usual. Also with sound.
  • Amed - Slight trembling and one long strong shake, chairs where shaking from ceramic floor, no damage
  • Kuta - outside on balcony all floors of the resort were shaking and we all ran downstairs
  • ubud - It woke up all the people in the hostel. The bunk frames were moving quite a lot. The owners were already outside looking grumpy when we got there.
  • Saba, Bali - Started with a swaying motion, then large rocking, swimming pool had waves
  • Bali - Moderate shaking, followed by sencond longer temer
  • Ubud - Woken by room shaking, windows and doors rattling like we're going to break
  • Sanur - Lasted approx 30 seconds with ground shaking
  • Bali Ubud - Woke up By the Earthquake. Least for 15 seconds with sound. People were screaming. Omg!
  • Pujut - Strong shaking, 2 aftershocks
  • Senggigi, Lombok - After just waking up and still in bed, I felt our whole house move back and forth. The Windows rattled and we went downstairs. It last about 30 seconds? Pretty strong motion felt all the way over here!
  • tegallelenga buleleng - Just wake up and felt bed shaking and Windows rattling. lasted about 20 seconds I live in bali now and this is my first experience of earthquakes. No damage and everthing ok .

  • Gili Trawangan - Sensation of a truck driving past for around 10 seconds, no damage or further developments.
  • Sampalan Nusa penida - No damage as far as i know.
  • Jimbaran - It didn't last very long. Maybe 20 seconds. Definitely had the windows shaking though. I knew it was stronger than the last one felt here.
  • Sanur - Woke up to bed shaking
  • Canggu, Bali - 2 strong shaking waves. Whole thing lasted for around 20 seconds and people in the hotel got quite scared. Loud noises came with the (more sideways) shaking.
  • Ubud - Strong shaking , we were eating breakfast in an open plan area, all staff ran outside , it lasted about 20 seconds. all animals were noisey and the earth quake sound was also evident. We haven't been educated on what to do when an earth quake hits, we just followed the locals. Now we know to move outside away from objects which may fall.
  • Ubud, Bali - Woke up by hotel room shaking. Windows rattling
  • Gili Trawangan - Woke up from this , but light shaking for a few seconds , no damage
  • Seminyak - Woke us up. Room shaking and glass doors rattling. No damage. Hotels employees didn't seem phased.
  • Kuta - Woke me up at 7am on the 21 March
  • Denpasar - Woken up (staying next to the beach) Crack in the sealings widened
  • Lembongan island - We woke up at hotel by a light shaking . A door made some noise of the shaking. Felt a light shake of the bed too. Lasted around 15 seconds i think .. hard to tell.
  • Manggis (East Bali) - I just was sleeping when I felt it. It woke me up. I decided stund up till it stoped.
  • Ubud - Sitting in an semi open room when shaking started. Felt rather strong and wouldn't stop for like 20 seconds.
  • Sanur, Bali - 20 seconds strong shaking
  • Bali - Was woken up by the earthquake. Bed shook a bit.
  • Ubud - Whole homestay was shaking, everybody woke up and run outside. Nobody hurt, no damage.
  • Jimbaran Bukit - Hey Guys! My wife from Indonesia woke me up in the morning and scream to me lets go out fast!!! Than i started to realize whats going on because i had a small hangover from yesterday!I met all other guest at 7.15 am in the garden! Everyone was shocked! Nothing of the building is broken but nobody went inside for 20 minutes after shaking! I am seven years in Indonesia (Bali and Lombok) and that was my second time so heavy! 3 years ago in Lombok Senggigi the same! 5.4 that time! No worries! :)
  • Nusa Lembongan - Room shook for about 15-20seconds grew in intensity then died down, windows rattled a bit. Strongest I have felt here.
  • Nusa Dua, Bali - Strong shaking, bed, windows rattling for 20-30 seconds
  • Pengeragoan Bali - Having breakfast on our terrace at the time. One of strongest we have experienced here during last 10 years. Floor, furniture and Pillars vibrating and trees emulating hula hula dancers. Dogs barking and looking worried. Framed Pictures on wall moved assumed different angles of hanging due to vibrations. Incident lasted about 30 seconds.
  • Kerobokan, Denpasar - Very strong shaking combined with a lot of noise, felt violent as compared to usual earthquakes, that are more of the rolling kind. No damages.
  • Ubud - The vibrating shake was strong and sudden and lasted for 30 seconds. There was a general rattling noise as a few roof and wall tiles fell. At least 2 wall cracks appeared, one about 20 cm long. I ran out of my guesthouse as the building was new and concrete and I was on the 3rd floor.
  • Gili Air - 5seconds vibrations woke us up at 7.00. No damage.
  • Ubud Bali - No damage lasted about 30 second...two tremors second stronger...window shock ,waves in the swimming pool.
  • Sanur - Standing in bathroom, door frame swaying, whole room moving and noisy. No damage, lasted about 50 seconds

  • Bali - Windows rattling. Not too severe but surprising
  • Ubud - Felt shaking, fixtures in room shaking.
  • Denpasar - I felt two consecutive shakes, the second stronger than the first one. It was long enough that some people decided to leave the building. The strongest earthquake felt in 4 years.
  • Kuta/Legian - Woke up just before it hit, balcony doors and whole room shaking. Yoga class outside stopped.
  • Sanur - Property not damaged
  • Sanur - Hotel room shaking side to side
  • Bali - Hotel Room Shaking Outdoors Trees and Grass Shaking Lasted 5-6 Seconds No Damage
  • Kuta - Light shaking for approx 12 seconds. Heaviest vibrations towards the middle and end. No known damage.
  • Bali seminyak - Il was a strong shaking but il did not last long, a few seconds
  • Legian - Floor started lightly shaking for around 10 seconds then a second wave of shaking started and the floor was shaking harder than the first time with the bed and furniture lightly shaking from side to side. We left the room straight away.
  • Denpasar - No damage, but people in airport were screaming.
  • Bali - No property damage, villa shaking for two consecutive periods, moderate at first and stronger second shaking
  • Ubud - Woke up to slight shaking. Lasted for a minute.
  • Ubud, Bali - Pool water rippling side to side
  • Sanur - Hotel room quite heavily nothing broken
  • Nusa dua - I slept when i felt earthquake and I opennthe eye. Hotel was shakeing. I afraid about myself.
  • Bali - My bed shaked like a massagechair for like 15 sec. Everybody went outside. Got a crack in the wall now
  • Amed - Hotel shook twice for around 10 seconds each, separated by around 10 seconds. The "second" shake appeared much stronger than the first. No damage but strong enough to consider running clear of buildings.

  • Nusa dua - No damage. Building shaking moderately.
  • BALI, PADANGBAI - 30 SECONDS OF MODERATE TO STRONG SHAKING ...
  • Sanur - No damage
  • Bali - tabanan - At 7 am was awake by doors rattling and house shaking. Two strong p wave events, no shear waves felt . Swimming pool was highly agitated. Duration about 1 minutes
  • Denpasar - No damage
  • Seminyak - Het hele hotel bewoog heen en weer. Het duurde ongeveer 1 minuut, nog nooit zoiets engs meegemaakt!
  • Nusa Lembongan - Felt hotel room shaking for 3-5 seconds.
  • Seminyak - My glass doors started shaking & I could see the flooor moving. I was making a cup of tea & the kettle was moving across the bench. A little concerned but all is ok
  • Canggu - Hotel room & bed was shaking, no dammage
  • Bali - Strong shaking for about 1 minute. No damage.
  • Umalas - Just a quiver. Not a quake.
  • Sanur - Lasted about 8 seconds. Two combined shakes, the second stronger. 2 floor building seamed to move laterally back and forth during this period. No damage.
  • Gili Air - The room at the homestay shook for about 15 seconds. There was no structural damage.
  • Ubud - Rattling windows, sliding doors jiggled open on second floor. A few more hairline cracks in the plaster walls. No damage otherwise.
  • Legian - Woken up by a back and forward movement more than a "shaking", that went for about 20 seconds. Nothing broken but building (large well built resort) was creaking and possibly a few cracks.

    MMI II (Very weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt by persons at rest, on upper floors or favorably placed.
    MMI III (Weak shaking) ?
    People :
    Felt indoors; hanging objects may swing, vibration similar to passing of light trucks, duration may be estimated, may not be recognized as an earthquake.
    MMI IV (Light shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally noticed indoors but not outside. Light sleepers may be awakened. Vibration may be likened to the passing of heavy traffic, or to the jolt of a heavy object falling or striking the building.
    Fittings :
    Doors and windows rattle. Glassware and crockery rattle. Liquids in open vessels may be slightly disturbed. Standing motorcars may rock.
    Structures :
    Walls and frames of buildings, and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings, may be heard to creak.
    MMI V (Moderate shaking) ?
    People :
    Generally felt outside, and by almost everyone indoors. Most sleepers awakened. A few people alarmed.
    Fittings :
    Small unstable objects are displaced or upset. Some glassware and crockery may be broken. Hanging pictures knock against the wall. Open doors may swing. Cupboard doors secured by magnetic catches may open. Pendulum clocks stop, start, or change rate.
    Structures :
    Some large display windows cracked. A few earthenware toilet fixtures cracked.
    MMI VI (Strong shaking) ?
    People Felt by all. People and animals alarmed. Many run outside. Difficulty experienced in walking steadily.
    Fittings :
    Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall from walls. Some furniture moved on smooth floors, some unsecured free-standing fireplaces moved. Glassware and crockery broken. Very unstable furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ring. Appliances move on bench or table tops. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers may open (or shut).
    Structures :
    Slight damage to buildings with low standard. Some stucco or cement plaster falls. Large display windows broken. Damage to a few weak domestic chimneys, some may fall.
    Environment :
    Trees and bushes shake, or are heard to rustle. Loose material may be dislodged from sloping ground, e.g. existing slides, talus slopes, shingle slides.
    MMI VII (Very strong shaking) ?
    People
    General alarm. Difficulty experienced in standing. Noticed by motorcar drivers who may stop.
    Fittings :
    Large bells ring. Furniture moves on smooth floors, may move on carpeted floors. Substantial damage to fragile contents of buildings.
    Structures :
    Unreinforced stone and brick walls cracked. Low standard buildings cracked with some minor masonry falls. A few instances of damage to buildings of ordinary workmanship. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick gables, and architectural ornaments fall. Roofing tiles, especially ridge tiles may be dislodged. Many unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, often falling from roof-line. Water tanks Type I burst. A few instances of damage to brick veneers and plaster or cement-based linings. Unrestrained water cylinders (hot-water cylinders) may move and leak. Some common windows cracked. Suspended ceilings damaged.
    Environment :
    Water made turbid by stirred up mud. Small slides such as falls of sand and gravel banks, and small rock-falls from steep slopes and cuttings. Instances of settlement of unconsolidated or wet, or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear in sloping ground. A few instances of liquefaction (i.e. small water and sand ejections).
    MMI VIII (Severe shaking) ?
    People Alarm may approach panic. Steering of motorcars greatly affected. Structures : Low standard buildings heavily damaged, some collapse. ordinary workmanship buildings damaged, some with partial collapse. Reinforced masonry or concrete buildings damaged in some cases. A few instances of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to resist earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 elevated tanks and factory stacks twisted or brought down. Some pre-1965 infill masonry panels damaged. A few post-1980 brick veneers damaged. Decayed timber piles of houses damaged. Houses not secured to foundations may move. Most unreinforced domestic chimneys damaged, some below roof-line, many brought down. Environment : Cracks appear on steep slopes and in wet ground. Small to moderate slides in roadside cuttings and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand ejections and localized lateral spreading adjacent to streams, canals, lakes, etc.
    MMI IX (Violent shaking) ?

    1. We felt it at the Beach kuta. The ground was shaking. No dangerious.

      • At my computer in first floor apartment in Legian, Bali 10.15 am 8 July 2013 when patio doors started rattling, then corner stone pillar started moving. Lasted about half minutes. No damage. No injuries in this block on Gang Janji.
