Malawi (NGO threat)
An irate president Bingu wa Mutharika vied off his official speech to warn non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that supported victims in the Karonga earthquake and floods natural disasters that he would ban their operations if they did not account for donor funds. $$$
New Zealand (Christchurch demolition)
nternational agency Architecture for Humanity chief executive Cameron Sinclair on a brief visit to Christchurch told the Sunday Star-Times he was shocked at the slow pace of deconstruction work in the quake-damaged city’s centre. $$$
Costa Rica (volcanoes)
Participants in the scientific and mountaineering expedition “Earth’s Ring of Fire” have climbed to the top of Poás, an active stratovolcano in central Costa Rica. It regularly spews out clouds of steam and plumes of water. The expedition is on a non-stop journey along the Earth’s Ring of Fire, by crossing all the continents around the Pacific Rim. It involves 19 countries, including Russia. The expedition will last 900 days and its members will have to cover a total of 70,000 kilometers. $$$
Japan (credit rating)
Fitch has gone along with Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s to downgrade the economic outlook for Japan. Fitch has warned the massive cost of cleaning up after the March earthquake and tsunami will add to strains already being felt economically.
New Zealand (Christchurch quake offenders)
Two more earthquake offenders who helped themselves to goods from damaged premises were dealt with at Christchurch District Court today. Judge Jane Farish told Paul Arthur Murphy: “People in this city are absolutely traumatised by the effects of the earthquake. It adds to the trauma when people like yourself think it is an opportunity to make money out of everybody else’s misfortune.” $$$
China (reconstruction)
Chengdu became the first Chinese city to be named “Role Model for Resilient Development” by the United Nations. The award was presented on May 11, 2011, during the 3rd UN Conference Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction at the Geneva International Conference Center in Switzerland. The lobby of the conference center displayed dramatic pictures of the disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction work of Chengdu following the deadly 2008 Sichuan earthquake. $$$
Iceland (Grimsvotn volcano)
Vatnajokull, one of the largest and most beautiful glaciers in the world, looks dark after being covered with Grimsvotn Volcano’s ash. Vatnajokull is the largest glacier in Europe and third largest in the world after the ones in Antarctica and Greenland. Vatnajokull’s surface is 8,300 sq. km. $$$

This is a wonderful news. I hope I can also do something for your website. I may send you some important scientific articles concerning LAIC anomalies before, during and after earthquakes. ( Lithosphere, atmosphere, ionosphere coupling). We strongly believe that the meaning of “earthquake mechanisme”" must change. The scientists of Earth Scineces should collaborate with the researchers of meteorology, climatology, geology, geophysic sciences… Earthquake precursors, pre-signals are very important..
